I just don't have words to relay my anger, disappointment not to mention what the actions do to these children! The treatment used on children without training, medical exams an cause damage physically & psychologically to these children! Just on a smaller note reform is needed for adults especially elderly and disabling medical (Nuero) conditions and diseases.

In 2009 along with my mother for no good reason, the State Baker Acted me and my mother and put us in separate nursing homes. I lost everything and my credit was ruined!
I want to know if the State bears any financial liabilities to me? This Baker Act is being abused by the government!!! L

Having gone through seeing a family member Baker acted under trying but NOT true need and the stress,finances and even encouraging of the behavior, I know it needs reform!

12 year granddaughter bullied at school.Deputy wanted to do his own exam at my home to determine if he would Baker Act her.She told a friend she felt like hurting herself. She did not do anything to herself; she was frustrated. She lives a good happy life at home.Her problem is at school. It was after midnight when this deputy woke the whole household up. He threatened to take her away if he thought she needed help. When she heard this, she was terrified. This welfare check by the deputy turned into a nightmare with all the kids now crying. We had no knowledge of the bullying.She was in a safe place and now victimized twice. The deputy did not appear well informed. Telling her friend was her way of venting. Now she feels like she did something wrong. Next time she may not tell someone because this deputy traumatized her. She was peacefully sleeping. The welfare check could have been done when she woke up.

My 8 year old was Baker Acted at school TWICE in the past 5 months - once with me present and I was threatened with arrest ("obstructing justice", no less) for attempting to protect my own child from this crazy abuse/misuse of outdated, poorly written, and misinterpreted law. Absolutely an absurd response to misbehaving children. These facilities are simply NOT intended for young children!

My son has Autism and was Baker Acted in school by the police officer at school due to an incident. He was sent to a hospital where he was subject to invasive procedures (needles, cath for urine sample) without my consent. The staff never advised me about the procedures before,during or after. I found out by my son.

The baker act is way outdated, everything now is different than it was in the 70's. Police, school staff, and doctors are abusing this law. It should require a judge to make the decision to initiate an involuntary commitment, that is too much power for a police officer, school employee, or a doctor to have.

This is an emergency, Baker Act MUST be shredded entirely, or must be ONLY acted through a SAFE SYSTEM not by anyone who might needed baker acted, more than the person they are baker acting upon ... IS ABUSIVE, ITS DANGEROUS IS HORRENDOUS WHEN DONE BY CRIMINALS ....

This happened to my son after they drilled him for an hour and he was asking them to call his mom, he wanted his mom.But they said no and he was scared.What is this state doing to our kids!!!
