A building of this magnitude and modern appearance plays no part in enhancing what is the entrance to a Conservation Area nor the historical setting of Bothwell Bridge and its significance of The Battle Of Bothwell Bridge with the associated Memorial. It sits in a very prominent viewpoint and in no way conveys the tranquil aspects that Bothwell is known for. It exploits all that is revered of Bothwell but contributes nothing.

The area is totally unable to absorb such a FURTHER development in infrastructure, which will heavily contribute to an already over stretched traffic congestion, plus the removal of yet another historic and attractive building....IN A CONSERVATION VILLAGE TOO!

Not only are we losing a large sandstone villa of some historical interest and a substantial presence when accessing the Conservation village, especially on Old Bothwell Road but the proposals for the Care Home are overpowering and out of character for the area.
The devastating loss of privacy for the private housing to the north and west of the site, some of which are only a few years old, is still completely indefensible from a planning aspect irrespective of the design modification now being proposed.
The inadequacy of the Old Bothwell Road to cope with the increase in commercial traffic serving the home (food, medical, laundry, waste removal, site upkeep and maintenance, ambulances on occasions) plus the staff and visitors. Notwithstanding the claims by the developer to the contrary, there will be problems for vehicles and pedestrians due to the limited widths of the road a) with resident parking and b) at the south end where it reduces to 4.4metres on an incline at a blind bend, where commercial vehicles cannot pass without shunting.
The traffic generated by the Cala Homes 12 Large Villas and 12 Flats coming on stream shortly was already going to stretch usage of the old Bothwell Road.
while I could highlight many other problems, I consider with the problems highlighted are sufficient to justify refusal of this application.

This project is wholly inappropriate for the location aesthically , bgiven what it is to replace , and due to the pressure it will put on the limited local infrastructure

Went to school in Bothwell and only just returned as a 73 yr old only so much expansion a village can stand. Enough already.
