Protect ACPS Students: Demand Accountability and Transparency Following Swiney Indictment

As a parent and community member, I believe we have a responsibility to demand accountability when children's safety is at stake. Transparency is not optional; it is essential. Families deserve clear answers about what was known, when it was known, and what actions were taken to protect students. Supporting this petition is about protecting children, strengthening trust, and ensuring that lessons are learned so this never happens again.

Accountability is not up for discussion here. Anyone who enabled this man to continue to harm children needs to be removed immediately up to and including Matt Haas if he is found to have been knowledgeable of this employee's conduct.

There was bullying of victim families before the story broke. Easier to remove children of loud parents than the predator? Someone should look into this issue.

We should also know about Jonathan Faulconer leaving Brownsville and WAHS. Time for transparency.

I am the guardian of Alma County student and I have back school system for future contact because of an assault that happened to my granddaughter that was swept under a rug. Joe McCauly defended all non-African-American students in a physical altercation that involve my granddaughter she was kicked and pushed to the ground, and he has coerced his teachers to lie. The school is a hostile learning and work environment. I have tried to get in touch with Dr. Hayes A. many of times with no success. Albemarle County has failed our children drastically and not only that they have fallen two could be in full compliance of my granddaughter‘s IEP and behavioral plan.

He was let go- or left mid year at wiodbrook- why???

The community conversation with ACPS admin, school board members, and ACPD has been scheduled for the same evening as the Hollymead-Forest Lakes swim meet. I imagine there are many parents who’ve already committed their time that evening who would appreciate being able to attend.

It’s reprehensible that an upstanding district such as ACPS has yet to address the parents with such an offense occurring within your walls. You are there to protect and educate our children, not put them in harms way. You are cowards for not addressing us and all administration should lose their jobs over this

As a former ACPS employee, I deeply conquer with the requests made in this petition. Children’s safety is paramount and essential to the role of educator. ACPS can and must do better.

This entire situation is beyond outrageous and it should not take this petition to get the school system to respond appropriately. Heads should roll.

Why????!

As a parent of a Hollymead student, I have no words. I want answers as well, but keep in mind this is now a criminal case and information is now in the hands of the justice system. It's going to take time for that information to be disclosed, so I don't expect any answers in the short term. While our eyes are on ACPS's lack of urgency around this, we should be demanding answers to the same questions of the sheriff's department. While we wait, what I want in the short term is a clear action plan to unpack why this was allowed to happen, the reasoning behind the slow sharing of information, and what we are going to do to prevent this going forward.
