No need for a safe injection site. This will only hurt the surrounding community/ business. Absolutely shameful to propose this, just hiding the problem rather than solving it. These people need help managing their addiction, not a location to enable it

They should talk to recovered addicts for what solutions are better. Former addicts that have been interviewed all say making it easier to consume drugs just makes recovery harder.

If they can prove the concept by building one in the south end near the University of Manitoba and it actually works then I would be open to the north end following that example. But if this is just another designated zone with no real proof that it works, then why is the north end once again being used as the testing ground?
The north end already carries the city’s heaviest burden. It faces ongoing building fires, the highest rates of assaults and shootings, the largest homeless population, and is repeatedly designated for shelters and emergency services. Adding another unproven “designation” only deepens the problem.
It’s genuinely sad to see how the city has effectively condemned the north end and parts of Point Douglas in particular to continued decline and destruction instead of real recovery.

Long time community member and employee at one of the school’s nearby. I have students who have to walk their younger siblings to and from school daily. My families are already anxious stepping foot outside. I’m all for rehabilitation but just not the location.
