Proposed apartment complex in Stonewall Neighborhood

This neighborhood has long been admired for being a safe place with mature trees, well kept homes, yards, public parks and a very long history of community. Community includes conservation of the green space in and around the neighborhood. Additionally, the founders of this neighborhood were extremely active in many documented studies which were conducted and resulted in negotiations with both the city and the state regarding zoning for buildings parking lots, roads, new homes, etc within the drainage areas and flood plains reaching from Renolds road, across wellington and down Clays mill to MOW. We need to not forget lessons learned. My family has certainly not forgotten why we moved to this neighborhood!

This zoning change should absolutely be denied, as the proposed development is inappropriate for the location, the transportation infrastructure, and the design and context of the existing neighborhood. The proposed structure would damage the environment, with runoff from a 100+ car parking lot flowing directly into South Elkhorn Creek. While development of this parcel is fine, the requested zoning change should be immediately and unequivocally denied.

Absolutely not! Will ruin our small quiet neighborhood and take away the beauty of the trees changing colors in the fall and the home of the deer that live in the brush that I like seeing every morning on my way to work!

We do not want the apartments here.

We don't want apartments here and will try everything to block it. I'm not just speaking for my family but our whole neighborhood.

Please do not approve the zoning request to allow the development of apartment buildings. I realize there is a need for multi-family units in our community; however, I believe that particular strip would be better suited for SFR zoning.

A Stonewall neighborhood resident who knows that is absolutely NOT the best use for that land!

My house is one of the closest to the floodplain according to the FEMA map. I checked with a civil engineer who specializes in water runoff issues. I was advised that there would be a greater threat to my property from floodwaters as a result of this development.

I am against the proposed zoning change to the Stonewall neighborhood.

No!!! Stop building these cheap eyesores in our neighborhoods! Stop destroying the land!!!

I own one of the homes that backs directly up to the proposed property. I have always assumed that the area would be developed to some degree, despite the fact that it is mostly in the flood plain. But I purchased my home under the assumption that any development would be single family homes like the rest of the established neighborhood. As far as the petition, I put it together quickly in an attempt to get something live for people to support right away. I welcome any suggestions for its content or improvement. Thanks!

I oppose the zone change that would allow an apartment complex to be built on Old Higbee Mill Rd.

At the very least, this petition is for RESPONSIBLE development. Clearly, the current plan is not.

We just bought our home in October and this is very upsetting and unacceptable! Is there nowhere else in this county that another apartment complex can be built that doesn't require squeezing into an established single family residential neighborhood????

I strongly contest the proposal to build apartments on Old Higbee Mill Road.
