MHS alumna. This is a great idea in lieu of a full rebranding. It honors the origins of the school and acknowledges the need for progress.

Very well thought out and written. I really appreciate the inclusion of being good stewards with the tax payers’ or donors’ money!!

I think this is a fair and very well put together compromise.

I like the compromise proposal though I wish it hadn’t come to this. I’m a graduate of 1974, lettered in track 3 years and was a member of the A cappella choir 2 years.

Good job compromising, but it should still be left alone. Hope this goes well!

This is a huge waste of money. History is history you cannot change it. If we’re going to go this far let’s get do away with all the Martin Luther King streets and let’s stop celebrating Juneteenth

My wife graduated from Lee, we have had season football tickets for around 20 years (even when we moved out of Midland, only to come back), I am a diehard Rebel fan, and have been attending games since 1998! My mom and brother have connections to the great Coach John Parchman and his wife, since all 4 of them knew each other at the same high school in El Paso. This would be a good compromise to keep the names; although, getting rid of any references to Robert E Lee (who did great things not associated with the Civil War) or the Confederacy are just part of cancel culture, whitewashing history, a knee jerk reaction, and appeasing the race baiters/shakedown artists who are screaming the loudest. The 6 people on the school board that voted for name change do not care about what the community thinks, as was witnessed by their chicanery, with the recent bond election, and need to be recalled or voted out! Furthermore, the financing and logistics for this fool’s errand of name change were not considered, even though Rick Davis said that a fundraiser could happen! They should have, best, redirected their efforts into fixing the actual education of students, in the failing schools, and figuring out the logistics of the school year!
