PROLIFERATE CHINATOWN NIGHTLIFE: A COMMUNITY OF ART, MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE SINCE 1934. The undersigned support the vibrant enrichment of nightlife events, and activities of Chinatown. We support the continuation of the current nightlife establishments and hope to see more. We enjoy and want block parties and a variety of street festivals and events which celebrate holidays and culture. We enjoy and recognize the need for street closures for the safety of participants and the integrity of the shared experience. The street closures also encourage a more communal feel. We support street festivals with the sale of alcohol on the street in the manner it has been done these last years. We recognize such activities are positive for the citizens and the reputation of our City as a destination location. We support the promoters and businesses that provide music, art, performance, and activities for the citizens and visitors to our islands. This petition will be used to demonstrate to the State of Hawaii, area legislators, City and County of Honolulu, Neighborhood Board 13, and Honolulu Liquor Commission that the patrons and residents of Chinatown, Honolulu, as well as broader Oahu, are in support of the entertainment, music, art, festivals and block parties that make Chinatown a unique and important social and economic hub. We are asking that the City and County and Neighborhood Board provide support for the activities provided, rather than attempting to blockade the endeavors of promoters, businesses, and organizers who strive to build and proliferate the nightlife activities of Chinatown. Since 1934, Chinatown has been a destination for those seeking out the authentic experience away from Waikiki, a place for Kama'aina and tourist to patronize music venues, bars, restaurants, clubs, art galleries, specialty shops and more. Over the last decade Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, Cinco De Mayo, First Friday and other events have added to the colorful activities that can be experienced in Chinatown. We seek to grow these type of events as well as the nightly activities businesses provide so people can continue to enjoy this special and historic nightlife destination on our island.

as a Voter and small Business Owner I know the importance of supporting the remaining small business endevour here in Honolulu. The Block Parties and Street Festivals help EVERYONE .
I am a supporter and patron of Chinatown nightlife and art scene. The artists and lovers of art need a safe place to practice or experience art in the community.
My name is Casey Ishitani aka DJ Jet Boy. I am signing this petition in the hope that Chinatown Honolulu will once again be a flourishing ground for festivals and block parties, and the positive effects they have on the community and cultural development of the State as a whole
I feel this petition will be used to sell more drinks on the street. By the way, check the meaning of "blockade." If any one is blockading, it's those who refuse entry to a closed street. Also, why is the petition anonymous? I am a retail business owner in Chinatown who does not sell drinks. I don't want Chinatown to become another Bourbon Street.
As a resident, patron and features/entertainment blogger, I support Chinatown nightlife and block parties that helps to put Honolulu on the map.
We, in our neighborhood, need to have a more singular message. We either support and embrace nightlife activity, or we don't. I do, feeling that balance can be achieved with thoughtful, open, inclusive participation where everyone has equal weight. Many of us know that the only way to displace illicit activity/populations (I'm not talking about law-abiding homeless) is to bring people and social activities to the area. I am very happy to see this petition being supported by our local elected officials! We should all offer our assistance in the interest of our community which I believe is "Honolulu's Most Colorful Neighborhood!"

Chinatown's eclectic mix of culture old and new, music and markets, food and festivals, prophets and poets is what makes it the best urban experience Oahu has to offer. Keep it living and evolving. Don't suffocate it.
