The junction concerned is at the edge of town and the traffic on the main road is frequently travelling at speeds above the legal limit. The current crossing position is inadequate since, due to a slight bend in the road and a horse chestnut tree, the view of traffic coming from Gillingham is obscured. Pedestrians can be on the road before they see an approaching car whose driver has no intention of even slowing down. Don't wait for someone to die before you act.

This is a very busy, at times very fast road, despite the 30 mph speed limit. Cars speed down to this roundabout from Gillingham Town Centre and they are on you before you have even got halfway across the road. Very dangerous for young children and a zebra crossing is badly needed.

I fully support this petition and all the arguments made in support of it. I have always thought it madness not to have a crossing at this location. It would have been done years ago if this was Somerset. Don't suppose there's any chance of a roundabout at the Waitrose junction while we're about it?

Hopefully it will slow down the speed merchants coming out of the roundabout! If they put a speed trap there they would make a fortune!

The road has a high level of use of lorries and traffic driving fast. I feel a zebra crossing is urgently needed for children and others safety.

Traffic comes too fast from Gillingham some not even slowing down. Visibility
from Hardy Court is very very limited.
Action now before a serious accident or death occurs.

I live in Marlott Road and frequently see lorries travelling down the B3092 from Mere going too fast to stop at the roundabout, so children have no chance. A lot of boy racers head up towards Mere like it is a racetrack. Measures need to be taken to slow the traffic down on this road making it safe for everyone to cross.

This is a dangerous road.Vehicles
come too fast from Gillingham direction.Suggest also a special caution or halt sign there to slow down traffic. Roundabout is not sufficient.

Long overdue. It's only a matter of time before there is another serious accident on this roundabout. The approach to the roundabout from Gillingham is dangerous.

This can be a very fast road especially with traffic coming into Gillingham near the path side and would benefit with a safe crossing and speed bumps to slow the traffic coming in from Milton on Stour which is at times is hurtling down the road just inches from our children.
