The Governor finally signed the commutation and Shelby is coming home. It has been an exhausting road but we refused to stop pushing for this mercy. I am drained but incredibly relieved that justice was served at last.

In August of 2011, Shelby Arabie went before the Pardon Board for the state of Louisiana. He received a unanimous vote for a commutation of his life sentence to 45 years with parole eligibility after serving 1/3 and credit for good time. This recommendation would make Shelby eligible for immediate release. Shelby has served nearly 30 years in the Louisiana State Prison in Angola. He has received the support and recommendation of release from his victims daughter & sisters, Warden Burl Cain, the trial Judge LJ Hymel, many state and federal officials, Pastors, Sheriff's, Businesses and more!
Shelby has been a model prisoner, has helped others to better themselves. He has achieved and excelled in being a productive reformed man within the walls and Shelby will be a productive citizen when allowed to return to a free society. The silence from the Governor's office is heavy but it does not mean we are stopping. I spend my nights reading the stories you leave here and they remind me that we are still fighting for a man who has already done the work to change. We refuse to let this fade away into the bureaucracy.

30 years is enough. Let the man go home already governor jindal.
its crazy that he has the judges support and the victims family support but is still stuck in angola. something doesnt add up here.
come on governor do the right thing and sign the papers. he did his time.
i work in the legal field and have followed this case for a while. he clearly turned his life around. he deserves a second chance at life.

on march 9.2015 Paul went to a Louisiana board of pardons. on a clemency hearing after considering the evidence presented at the hearing on march the 9 2015 the Louisiana board of pardons is forwarding to Governor Bobby Jindal a recommendation that he be granted a pardon a commutation of sentence to 75 years with immediate parole eligibility what is the Governor waiting on to let my brother come home it is time 30 years. his sister
