The majority of university students are allowed limited time to spend with their family and loved ones. This time is conveniently organized around major national holidays, one of which falls in the Fall semester—Thanksgiving. However, the length of time is hardly enough. Thanksgiving, a holiday of feast and festivity, corn and cornucopias, is more importantly a holiday of loved ones and turkey gravy. Loved ones and turkey gravy and sweet potato casserole and cranberry sauce and green bean casserole and various other traditional autumn foods and beverages to eat and imbibe. This food takes time. Family time takes time. It takes time for tryptophan to kick in and it takes time to wake up from a Thanksgiving food coma, and each subsequent leftover food coma. It takes time to dish wash and it takes time to detox. Let our grandmothers, our grandfathers, our sisters and our brothers, our parents, our cousins, and our crazy aunts and uncles enjoy this quality time with us. A 5-day holiday is simply insufficient. To develop and deploy a successful social campaign, we request—nay—we demand this extra day off! 20-some signatures strong!

The necessity for additional time during the holiday period becomes more apparent as we review the feedback from our fellow students. We are currently preparing a formal proposal to present to the professor to ensure our request receives the serious consideration it deserves.
