Its unimaginable that an institution like the 92nd St Y would not serve kosher meals. They just turned their back on the entire orthodox community. Maybe they should reread their mission statement: 92nd Street Y is a world-class cultural and community center where people all over the world connect through culture, arts, entertainment and conversation. For over 140 years, we have harnessed the power of arts and ideas to enrich, enlighten and change lives, and the power of community to repair the world. As a proudly Jewish organization, 92Y enthusiastically welcomes and reaches out to people of all ages, races, faiths and backgrounds while embracing Jewish values like learning and self-improvement, the importance of family, the joy of life, and giving back to our wonderfully diverse and growing community, both locally and around the world. - See more at: http://www.92y.org/uptown/about-us.aspx#sthash.JJbvxjMN.dpuf

The Y needs to be held to a standard where everyone, even an ultra orthodox Jew, can eat there. Thank you.

This is totally nonsensical. A Jewish organization, at it's dinner or events, should serve kosher. Be all inclusive when making events, that way no one needs to hesitate to join in. Do you really want religous people to be eating shrink warapped airline / cruise food, while others eat what is being serves. Perhaps, that might be your point. Or at least it looks that way. Kosher food should be a given here. This is not where you need to make political statements of how kosher is this or that. Leave those issues to others. I am so disappointed that your organization, at the forefront of Jewish community could even be proposing doing this, much less doing it.

We are one people. Don't you believe that dati observant Jews have anything to contribute to the Y? Why exclude, why divide us? Can't we all celebrate as ONE? Am Yisrael Chai!

This is honestly unacceptable. Those who don't eat kosher are not marginalized by the event being kosher. Those who do eat kosher are marginalized by the event being treif. Please do what's right and be inclusive.

Hi I am a social worker in NYC. I'm not sure you are aware how the 92 y is the one beacon of light that provides social and Jewish sanctuary to all people kosherand non kosher . Everyone feels at home as you are warm and inclusive . This will change all that and create more loneliness and divide in our small Jewish community . Stick to your identity and tradition as a Jewish center and don't do this please. Your community needs you ! Thank you !

With so many high end kosher caterers, the only excuse for serving a non kosher meal at this event can only be agenda driven. 92nd Street Y, what happened to inclusion?

It hurts when people find other ways to "connect" with G-d than the way He asked for a relationship. Disregarding Torah law is nothing new, but for an organization with such a broad Jewish reputation as the 92nd Street Y does it, it's making a statement to the world that "We have no share in the Torah of Moses,"

The leadership of the 92nd Y clearly does not respect the history and traditions of the organization. Perhaps new leadership should be advised.
