Specialty schools provide students with special opportunities to pursue their passions along like-minded people of the same age. This is one of the greatest ways (if not THE greatest way) to progress innovation, talent, and excellence in students in this city.
Please do not take these programs away from us!

Everyone is different. Every kid needs to grow in his/her own way, bloom in their own pace and the school, community should support and give everyone what they need to be successful.

Don't take away a child's freedom to express their arts in a safe environment where we all feel equal. It's WRONG and as you can see Many people want the arts program to stay .

These programs provide more options to meet different needs. That's why they are so successful! Do not understand why they are trying to do this. In the future maybe no more Harvard or other well known universities?

art is not just education - it is a lifestyle. take it away, and you immediately have millions of kids going back to depression or anxiety simply just cuz they can’t express themselves. take it away, and our valued diversity goes away too. isn’t that what canada is all about ?

This program provides a foundation for students with an interest and/or talent in the arts. Students can develop their talents while being in an encouraging and supportive environment.
If it were taken away from future students, the tdsb would definitely be eliminating the creativity and enjoyment that it brings to students. Especially to those students who have long term goals and a career path in mind. It also takes away from those who haven't discovered their interests yet and want to explore different options in school.
This program is truly life changing and students should be given the opportunity to benefit from a school that provides a high level of education with a fantastic and diverse arts program.
I am a CWSA and Earl Haig arts program alumni. Looking back, I cannot see myself going through the majority of my youth (grades 4-12) without being in this program. I was a music major in Earl Haig and had the opportunity to learn difficult repertoire and perform our year end concert in a professional concert hall. Those kinds of experiences and memories live with you for the rest of your life. I can really appreciate the program and all of the dedication and knowledge that my teachers provided. Now I'm a professional violinist performing hundreds of concerts a year and owe it to being a part of the CWSA program.

This is a ridiculous idea that will lead to the loss of access to the arts for many who cannot afford private schools

This is awful. Art schools have opened up so many great opportunities for student's futures, and will do so for the future generation.

While I believe that equity is a crucial issue the elimination of programs such as Claude Watson or the Mac programs will not address those issues. It will only eliminate the opportunity of students from every background to achieve their potential in many different skills and passions.
This so disrespectful. Honnestly you should be ashamed of yourselves!!
