Support specialized programs & schools made possible by optional attendance!

Do both, don’t ruin something that works for an unproven project.

Equality does not mean sameness. Children have different needs and specialized programs are there to meet those needs. Let's keep them for our children.

My daughter is a recent graduate of the Claude Watson program and is continuing her passion for the arts by attending an university arts program. Without programs, like the Claude Watson (CW) program, the pursuit of passion would likely be significantly challenged. Specialized programs promote the pursuit of passion and from that comes excellence. On the world stage we are better as a country and a city if we promote this passion rather than eliminate it and subsequently promote mediocrity. As far as equity is concerned, we should find ways to expand or extend these specialized programs rather than eliminate them."

I want to keep the gifted program

I was part of the Claude Watson program and it had a big impact on my life, helping to support my love of art.

Arts take great components in students’ learning. Since tdsb values Garner’s seven intelligents and intergration between them, specialize schools are good model for that. Also specialized school programs give differentiated learning opportunities and accommodations for students to reach their full potential.

Everyone is born equal but with different talents. Specialized programs give students the opportunities to explore and develop their talents and prepare our next generation to succeed in the future. Our next generation is facing the competition caused by globalization, and it is our school board's responsibility to prepare our children to survive and succeed in the competition from India, China and Artificial Intelligence.

I'm speechless. I never thought I would encounter a rule so foolish. I have worked so hard to get into a specialized program, along with many of my friends, and thousands of other students in the TDSB. It makes no sense to just take away the privileged of people who worked so hard, because some people find it "unfair". And by "some people," I mean the people who didn't get accepted into the specialized programs that they applied to, and their parents. Along with that, not getting accepted into something you really want has some benefits that will help you in the long run, such as working harder than before and never giving up. It also helps people how to deal with rejection. Please reconsider this rule, and consider both parties of the rule.

I disagree with TDSB.

This is appalling. Etobicoke School of the Arts played an integral role in my development. My academic education was not compromised, but enhanced. This is disgraceful. Save the arts!!!!

I find it very unfair that my son and many other people in specialized programs are going to be put into the regular program even after they worked hard to get in. They deserve it. Besides, getting rejected from a school has some benefits to it as well, You learn to work harder, and to never give up, which will help you for the rest of your life.

Retain Specialized School Programs.

This is crazy. I am in a specialized program that I worked hard to get into, and it's not fair that people like me have to do the regular program after we worked hard to pursue our dreams. It is equitable that people like myself are in these specialized programs, and the people that are complaining that this is not fair, are just jealous because they were not accepted into the specialized programs that they applied to.

Please leave the arts children somewhere to aspire to go.

These programs provide important specialized education to help our students have the best tools for their future.
