These schools allow us to do anything we like. Kids in these schools are not meant for “regular” school. We are unique and special!

Arts school is the only reason I made it through high school. Without that type of community, I wouldn't have succeeded

going into esa i heard so many great things about how friendly everyone at esa is and i believe that's because of the creativity in the arts program. i discovered so many interests about what i wanted but to do based off the activities at esa. students love going to school because they get to perform in their major everyday and express something they love

It is absolutely disgusting that the TDSB would even consider passing a bill like this. This bill has the potential to destroy a child's education and shut doors to possible careers. As a city, this is not something we should stand for

My son had CCAT at Grade 3 and has been selected to Gifted Program this fall. It's the fair competition because every TDSB student had the test. My son is challenged, engaged, and passionate in the new environment. Gifted Program has stimulated his motivation and creativity. Not every student fits into one style, one level, one type of program. Uniformity kills creativity and motivation. Talented and diligent students need your help and support. They deserve it. Because of your specialized program, they may become scientists, artists, or specialists in the future. Please do not kill their dreams. They are Canada's future.

Equity is not equally, it does not mean treat everyone the same. Kids have different needs, and ways of learning, different strengths and interests. One must account for their unique characteristics, figure out what they need to learn best and address that so they can be successful. Destreaming will not improve student success.
Students can apply to specialized programs from out of area.

I don’t understand why your taking away the arts program in the first place. It is like you want all kids to lose out creativity and become little robots just learning what every other normal school does. By taking away the arts from these school means that you will be taking away a part of student all around and we will slowly become scared to even express our creativity because by taking the arts away you are showing us that it is bad to do what you love. The students in these school aren’t afraid to be different and that’s what’s so good about them. We don’t want to become that normal basic school that’s in the district we want to be the school that’s a little weird but the students that go there love that and I’m telling you taking away our foundation will just make us angry and it won’t be good for us and the tdsb. Thank you

Phasing out specialized programs is a backwards approach to improving education. Why not encourage teachers in low income area schools to work with talented students so they can audition for arts schools or apply to IB or science and math specialty programs. These specialty programs are available to all TDSB programs and do not discriminate by social class. Talented, hard working students deserve these programs no matter what their background.

The TDSB should be phasing out bad ideas... This is absolutely ridiculous, the last thing the TDSB needs is more mediocre schools, and unneeded expenditures. SATEC, IB, and art schools are doing just fine. My personal school (ESA) is a top academic school in the province. This is a terrible idea I hope will never be implemented.
