As an alumni of the Claude Watson Arts program, I can confidently say that depriving students of these opportunities will not close the gap in regards to marginalized students. Having been part of a program that fosters creativity has not only given me the confidence to peruse a career within the arts, but to inspire others on what is possible when effort meets passion, regardless of the circumstances. Let students reach their full potential, and allow them to help others do the same.

I wonder if people who are trying to kill these programs realize how it feels to be different in a regular school. The utter, painful boredom mixed with depression and inability to make a connection with most kids. The feeling of loneliness so deep, it hurts almost physically. Without having any adults who actually understand and don’t label it as bad behaviour or acting out, and without other similar kids to share your thoughts with.

Closing specialized students isn’t the right way to equalize anything. All it does is deprive students of truly reaching their true potential. I am a student that goes to a specialized program and it not only made me a better student, however it made me into an individual that was able to teach those students that didn’t go to a specialized program. Their teachers weren’t teaching well but I was able to explain it to them. That was only possible because I went to a specialized program. If they stop the student academic level will only decline and become degenerated

It's great to have every school across the board be able to provide the fundamental resources for every student to be successful and set up for life after high school. However, it's a terrible idea to get rid of specialized programs. These programs give capable students the chance to achieve something greater and not just be appreciated falsely for mediocrity.

This is the most handholding decision the tdsb might ever dedicate out. This takes away any aspect of competition which is unrealistic towards real world standards as we live in a purely capataliet society that is made up of only competition.

The specialized programs are the programs that students need to figure out their lives and what they want to do or help achieving their dreams like IB is helping me achieve my dreams.
