From someone who attends an art school, I'd find it extremely heart breaking and detrimental to my future if my school and its programs were to be shut down.

This is a useless idea, as the idea of having these specialized programs aren't excluding any kind of person out of applying and the system of applying to these schools and not having an 100% chance of getting in is just like applying to any collage or university.

Please don’t stop the program. It’s my life. I’ve been waiting to get into this school Wexford ever since I was in the 4th grade. And now it might be taken away from me. I love this school with all of my heart. Please don’t take it away from me and everyone who needs it.

Please don't let us down. We love our arts schools, and so do the parents.

Students are the ones who should make the decision. The board shouldn't get to.

This would deconstruct communitys inside of pre-existing schools that make kids make feel loved and accepted. personally I take the travel Time to get to my current school where I know I'm safe ... Switching kids into schools where they didn't want to go to in the first place would be talking away the small amount ofcontrol they have over their school life

I find my self signing so many of these petitions because I feel like tdsb is so focused on "improving" that they remove certain aspects that kids really enjoy! Being part of a specialized program like the IB program pushes you far more than the regular stream. I went from being the top in the class to being in a class filled with people who worked just as hard me and didn't slack off. I love the environment that I'm in and I would dislike school if it weren't as challenging. You can't just expect to through everyone into the academic program and wish for the best! Think about those who benefit from these programs. We are the next leaders!

I strongly disagree with the idea of ending specialized programs. Some students have been waiting their whole lives for opportunities to enroll in them thus giving TDSB no right to take their chances away from them.

I agree with removing optional attendance - it hurts the local public schools. However when someone is choosing an alternate school such as arts based then in those cases it's more rare and should be ok. We need speciality programs to reach all kids. If IB is in an issue then push all schools to become IB. Also it's really hard the way the zones work for school so groups of kids that have been together for all of grade school are suddenly split at high school which can be really hard on kids.
