An absolutely appalling suggestion, I’m completely against this proposed change. As a student of Claude Watson school for the Arts, id like to continue my artistic studies into high school. Such a change would break many students like me down to the floor. We’ve spent all these years building artistic experience, our parents spent countless hours driving us to extracurriculars. Don’t you dare remove specialized programs.

I went to an arts high school and it was an amazing experience. It really helped me discover my interests and I think everyone should have that opportunity

Removing special education programs is absurd.It will discourage hardworking students.Totally unacceptable.

The city's arts programs are essential opportunities and should continue as a model for the development of addition local clusters.

Why don't we give kids multiple options to choose what they want to learn by them self. We parents plan my son to go to IB program, but himself chooses TOPS

I was in a specialized program from grade 6 to 8, and it was so important for me to be around people who shared my interests. I wouldn't be who I am today without those years, and those people.

Who thought this was a good idea

We need to keep those IB programs. We have this programs all over the world. Can’t believe we want to remove in Toronto !

Good afternoon tdsb, I attend a arts school,r Rosedale Heights School of the Arts. I personally love this school. Compared to any other regular highschool, the arts make you feel different as if you have a purpose to be there and learn. All students who attended an art school learn creatively and hands on and can abide those skills to there academics. If you ever have time to see such beauty in an arts school, you would be amazed and think about the patronizing choices you might cause to the schools and students. Please take a chance and read this. Make better choices.

The goal to enrich all schools is an unlikely one to succeed. Before removing specialised programs they should start the enrichment process now.

I was the director of the Academy for the Arts at Niagara District Secondary School and the librarian at Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts. I am a past president of the Arts Schools Network and have steered or hosted 2 Network conferences and 4 regional cluster conferences. I served on curriculum development and writing teams at the local and provincial level. I have an M Ed and retired as vice-principal at CALC. Specialized schools foster creativity and prepare students for a life in arts, in any area of study because of the discipline, self-reliance, and team work they promote, and they have an elevated ambience due to the fact that the arts majors want to be there. They also make exciting and challenging options available to the community students who then also want to be there. More inclusive, fewer incidents of violence, etc. All schools should support arts, technology, and library for all students. But those students who benefit directly from any focused programs need to be recognized and provided with the appropriate support, training, academic challenge, and staffing. Phasing out specialized schools is a major mistake.

My younger brother has autism and might need to go to one of these schools when he is older and this means a lot if we can stop tdsb from doing this

If you dont support specialized schools that means you dont support specialized students. Its wrong to take away programs that engage and help students
