I am against the new proposal to phase out the specialty programs. I like the specialty Program today because they provide opportunities to students who study harder and who passed entrance exam for those programs to get the opportunity.

You cannot tout equity and remove these valuable programmes. This is not being socieconomically, racially, socially, appropriate by any means. If the TDSB really actually were sensitive to the needs of its communities it would understand that having both regular optional attendance and specialised allow students to both hone their skills to become global learners and leaders, as well as give suffering students an opportunity to seek better circumstances than be forced to continue with the pressing concerns in their vicinity. It is appalling to remove these programmes as there is no way to spread the resources evenly throughout- they will subsequently be watered down and all of our future generations will be lost in the shuffle.
All this will succeed to do is further decrease the learning capacity of our City, alienate those who can afford private schools and the have nots who will remain with substandard education. You will succeed in breaking our City down and ruining the hubs of each community. To put an end to our childrens’ choices and limit their talents will further reduce and destroy everything that our fine City and Public Education system upholds.

I honestly think this is ridiculous. Kids should be able to have more of a variety of choices to choose from. For their futures and to keep them happy. A lot of teenagers commit self death each year and that might increase Un happiness resulting in death.

I am dead serious when i say if i did not attend an arts school i would not attend school at all. Specialized programs are a necessity for kids passionate about arts or academics. I love my school and the programs it offers with all of my heart, if these programs were not offered anymore how do you expect people to get into the colleges and universities that specialize in the arts, like OCAD?

This is rediculous, us students went to these schools for a reason, and it is horrible that the school system I’ve grown up in wants to terminate all these programs... this is bull

My daughter was passionately looking forward to the dance program at Earl Haig. Please don't take that away from her. Dance is her passion and therapy.

unless you’re planning on spending MUCH more money on building new schools for these students, this is a very bad idea
