This is so unreasonable that you want to take away specialized programs in the tdsb areas. First, these kids audition to get in to these crazy arts programs to get the chance to improve and show off their individual talents and are you just going to take that away from them? Second, the majority of the kids that are in this arts program travel long distances just so they can have the opportunity to attend these types of programs including myself. Third of all, so many people have gotten the chance to be in these programs and have had such an amazing experience are you just going to take away all the other kids opportunities to have an arts program open to them, I feel as though I am speaking for many saying that we want to go to school and be able to do something we love to do and do it with people who love to do it too, and are you really going to take that amazing opportunity away from so many people.

This is stupid. Students go to art schools and specialized programs because they cannot cope in a public school environment and require special help that helps them find who they truly are. To heck with your 'equity'. In fact, in you think carefully, you'll see that students attend these school because they can't be your so called 'normal'. If equity is so important, changing the public school programs would be a better solution. I can't believe that TDSB would do this and they would be ruining the education and childhoods of millions of kids as well as thousands of teachers. The specialized programs are the refuge for kids who cannot fit in and should not be removed. I hope TDSB would take this to heart when making their final decision.

Specialized programs exist to make sure every kid is provided what they need in an education. Esa provides artistic children a place to learn and expand in their talents. To take opportunities like this away from kids is a one-minded idiotic idea.

Arts education teaches so much more then academic learning. It teaches dedication, passion, time management, and self confidence. Qualities many teenagers do not learn at such a young age. Arts education is imperative to society and to young students. Specialized education gives adolescents a special talent or skill which makes them unique from the rest. This proposal will deeply affect the students, parents and many faculty members in this board. And as a graduate of Etobicoke School of the Arts I will push everyday for the future of specialized learning, as it gives many teenagers a space and place to feel free and accepted.

Please keep specialized programmes because they mean so much to me. I am in the tops programme and it is very lovely. I would appreciate it if we kept it.

Eliminating specialized programs in the TDSB will reduce equity, not increase it. Private Schools will still have the prestigious programs, but everyone else will not.

Being a graduate from Rosedale Heights school of the Arts which has always been a place of comfort for many young artists in the city of Toronto, with its accepting community and support for the arts this proposal or idea of making it not welcome into secondary school learning is a cause for concern for the well being of students, parents, and the teachers of this community. This should not be an option in regards to making the TDSB a stronger and more developed school board, it actually does the opposite.

How is this equity? Removing these specialised programs is only seeking to disadvantage future students from pursuing their passions in an encouraging environment. Enhancing equity should be making sure that even MORE schools get specialised programs (perhaps in the marginalised communities the task force are concerned about), so that even more students have opportunities to seek out ways to further excel in their field. Healthy competition is not a bad thing, and these programs are not discriminatory in their selection processes. They've nurtured the success of so many students who've went on to excel in their specialisation, so why take that away in the name of a flawed sense of "equity"?

We have to keep these special programms for those gifted kids. It isa shame to loosen up the requirement to the school board then to harm the future of the young generations.
