Support specialized programs & schools made possible by optional attendance!

Please keep these schools with special programs going. It's one of the main reasons I went to mine.

This draft proposal is counter to all the research that people excel in areas where they have strengths. To provide a child with a school where possible that connects to them ensure that the feeling of belonging and motivations will be high. Choice and connection are the secret sauce of achievement and this desire to make schooling vanilla and bland with little choice and removing freedom of choice is not the ethos of the Canada I love. 30 years ago I went too early of theses schools overseas where talented children were affected by those with less ambition or motivation, where a desire for the arts was seen as weak and its does not work. The education Ontario provides surpasses many many jurisdictions don’t throw the baby out with the bath water and save reforms for old age care where it’s needed.

I'm more than happy to share my letter to the TDSB again and again. There is nothing but positivity, inclusiveness and passion of spirit present at ESA. Let's keep it that way.

Keep this school

If you want equal teaching for all people, then fire your awful teachers and hire better ones. IB, and arts programs are there for people who excel in their fields. Not only this, but it is for those who would otherwise be bullied, and tormented in any other high school for being "different." By removing these programs, you are putting your students at risk. TDSB's goal should be to provide all students with opportunities, and by removing the opportunity for artistically driven students to be in a program that will foster their creativity is failing their students.

The specialized arts program at ESA was such a beneficial and positive experience for me and all my peers. Gaining specialized knowledge and being exposed to other like-minded individuals who shared my passions was a life-changing experience and it would have negative effects across the school board to disband specialized programs.

Variety of programs are not only encouraging students pursuing their personal interests and strengths but also attacking highly competitive business and people locate their home or headquarter in Toronto.

Please keep all the special programs!

If you shut down all specialized schools, you take away what we love and cherish the most. It would be inhuman and pure evil of you to do this. Can’t believe you’re even considering it.

Stand up for what's right

This is definitely not a wise idea. It is part of what makes the TDSB such a great school board; the ability to experience a wide range of programs that help youth become strong active citizens while gaining the knowledge that best suits them.

My school means the world to me and in the few short months that I've been going there have really changed me for the better. I couldn't thrive, learn, or enhance my learning at any other school. I want every student to be able to find the school that is right for them. It's not fair to limit a student's learning and education growth based on what neighbourhood they live in.

Removing specialized programs and their funding will not increase the support for other students or enrich their learning further. It is only removing the opportunity for talent individuals to further their passion, discover their skills, and find their future. Centralization and rampant "equality" will only leave students with less choices, and fewer opportunities.

Don’t shut down the schiol

Programs are really great for students who know exactly what they want to do in the future. Phasing out the program helps no students whatsoever.
