Support specialized programs & schools made possible by optional attendance!

It is ridiculous to think that everybody in a school system has the same strengths. Forcing students with learning needs or special abilities to be treated as if they did not have said skills/disabilities is foolish.

I go to a specialized trades school, (WTCS) and most of the specialized program students work their ass off to get in and most get in through optional attendance. Phasing this out so "marginalized students" can have the same oppurtunities as regualr students is BS, as there is NO cost to be in or apply for these programs. The TDSB is a load of crap without these programs. If it wasn't for me being in my specialized program, I would never have the motivation to do well or even attend school.

don’t get rid of the art programs!

This is the only school I’ve ever felt happy at. It feels like a second home to me please save ESA!

Arts education was a seminal part of shaping the person I am today. It is pivotal in developing a well-rounded, intellectually curious individuals who challenge the status quo. Phasing out specialized programs for some in order to equalize funding is not the answer.

I definitely vote against it. There must be better ways to improve our education goals to be equal, but phasing out these special program is never the answer. It is absolutely no fair for those kids who worked hard and studied hard to get in the program. This recommendation makes absolute No Sense to me at all.

Cancelling already established programs that are thriving and successful is a bunch of short-sighted, self-serving bureaucratic bullying and a tremendous waste of taxpayer money and resources.

You can’t close ESA, we need more arts schools, not less

There is no funding in place to create an equitable distribution of the arts curriculum. Dismantling these programs is a political act and nothing will take its place. Once they are gone rebuilding will be impossible!!

I go to an art school, and it is my life right now. I love it so much, and the thought of it being taken away from me it’s terrifying.

Special programs are very beneficial! Equity does not mean equality

One size does not fit all

Best learning my daughter has had by far is through SMET schools. We should be expanding not contracting this program. This is preparing them for the real world.

As a parent of 2 kids in special program, this idea is ridiculous.
