This is not the solution.

I’m in the MaCS program, and I believe that the disadvantages will definitely outwiegh the benefits if specialized programs really are phased out. Even thinking about taking away the opportunity for students to learn at a more enriched level is downright incomprehensible.

Simply, it is shameful that this recommendation is being considered. Specialized schools such as ESA allow creative minds and spirits to flourish. With all the other competing priorities that should warrant attention, it is both shocking and disappointing that specialized schools are being targeted. In the alternative, these specialized schools should be celebrated and fully supported.

Beyond the average stangards of education, these programs make TDSB what it is today. Get rid of them, what? We need more of them.

I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for arts programs like Claude Watson. The arts can help so many students realize a potential that they didn't see in themselves. I fear for the future of this city and this country if the arts loses even more funding and gets even harder for youth to become involved in.

Different kids should have different programs to fit their needs

I strongly against the idea to phase out the TOPS specialized program as this is unfair for those students who want to work harder and to excel in their studies.

This is crazy. Special programs create equity. I have been teaching gifted students for 25 years, and they need a special program. It is not elitist. That wither away in a regular program. Please don’t do this.

Provide students with different choices

Object to remove existing specific programs. Different students have different needs and strength. They are entitled for those programs which definitely helps to achieve their goals and passions.

I was in the gifted program from grade 7 until high school graduation and I know that I would have been bored and disinterested in school if I had attended my home school for all those years. The gifted program gave me an intellectually stimulating curriculum paired with room for exploring other interests that I hadn't even considered earlier in life. The network or highly motivated peers and knowledgeable teachers gave me a high school experience that fully prepared me for university and beyond.

As a student in Toronto I believe that we should have to right to go to any school we believe is fit for us. I don’t think that the school system should keep us from a happy environment and become a dictatorship.

this is really stupid if a student didn’t get into wex well that’s too bad it’s ment to be for the students who have that talent not for everyone it’s just like saying “every student can have a tv show” no, because not every student is good for that. if they decide to shut down art programs then why can’t they shut down catholic schools, or sport schools. it’s not fair to all the kids who auditioned and got in and deserve this.
