Support specialized programs & schools made possible by optional attendance!

As a student who has to under go the arts and gifted programs, this will mess me up BIG TIME. Please do your best, I'm here to support.

Y'all make enough poor decisions, don't make this one of them.

We should keep the current programs.

Equity is not giving everyone the same thing to produce the same result. That system does not work, there are too many variables. Equity is giving different options for everybody based on their individual specific needs so that they can succeed. This would launch the TDSB backwards, and we deserve a choice to what we want to do with our lives. 4 years makes a massive difference.

We need to keep are arts schools

TDSB Enhancing Equity Task Force wants to phase out arts enriched programs, because not everyone has access to them. I think this is going in the wrong direction. Keep the arts-enriched programs and other specialized programs in place. Their curriculum and lessons plans have been working well for decades. Use their curriculum as a guide to make more schools have arts enriched or other speciality programs. But don’t destroy the ones that already have a proven track record of success. As a graduate of Claude Watson School for the Arts, I am disappointed in the school board for even suggesting this. Claude Watson is where I got to cultivate my love for the arts, exploring all kinds: drama, dance, music, and visual arts. This was a safe haven for us weirdos, and made us more open minded and accepting of each other’s differences. I fear the worst that they’ll dismantle all these excellent programs and put in place half-assed programs in every school that pale by comparison.

Keep specialed programs alive.

I know super talented people that go to ESA and they deserve a school that appreciates they're individuality and talents. They're also getting a great education, and that's something everyone deserves.

One of my best friends attends a specialized school... please don't close them

By all means, increase funding for the arts across the TDSB and raise the floor for all students. Every school deserves a full-time music teacher. But don’t dismantle the existing specialty programs for the highest ahieving students. Whether the student is gifted and talented in dance, music, art, drama, mathematics, science or technology, these schools are producing the leaders of tomorrow. Perhaps a better job of recruiting to diverse communities is in order.

DO NOT CANCEL SPECIALZED PROGRAMS!!!!

These programs are what help enrich student experiences and their educational careers! Why get rid of programs that work so well and is a positive for students? Why is the TDSB always trying to change things when it is unessesary?!

If no gifted program, some kids will drop out or be so bored that they won't be challenged and won't learn. Come on TDSB!

Please do not remove specialized schools nor programs. You will be crushing hundreds of dreams of students across the city.
