Support specialized programs & schools made possible by optional attendance!

Education should ideally be soeciallied for each individual. Given that the current system cannot afford to do so, the specialied programs are the only choices to those kids needed it. Please do not deprive our kids under politically correctness or for political reasons!!!

I am a student at esa and this school among earl haig, rose dale etc provide the most accepting environments for teens who are finding who they are and allows them to thrive and find the confidence that is shunned at many other schools across the board.

This a step backwards in education!

This is absolutely the worst idea. Enough with the 'faux' equality talk. The first thing the province should do is eliminate the separate school system...which gives preferential treatment to ONE RELIGION. Then with the savings - expand these brilliant programs into more schools. Please don't let Toronto go further down the road of mediocrity! TS

These programs add so much to the schools and students experience in those schools. If they were to get rid of them this would have a negative impact on so many people.

Must be saved!

Anything went wrong with IB, Tops, gifted or any of these special programs? Prove to us. Yes, we are all born equally but we are all unique with different talents. If the kids born with special talents why don't we nurish them in the way that suit them the best? Someone just can't stand shiny stars?

These programs are there for public school students who have these actual areas of specialty. Why cut programs that lead to students who have aptitudes in these areas reach their potential? Will it help anyone attain more equity to cut these programs? Art programs especially help students who may not otherwise succeed in regular programs to succeed and connect with other like minded students.

I believe I can speak for all the students who are in any program that closing down the programs will not benefit anyone in anyway but decrease the amount of students wanting to attend school and to actually benefit and enjoy their learning expiriences. Students work incredibly hard to get accepted and to stay in their programs. To take this away from them is a slap in the face and is devaluing the students work. For every teenager who feels they don’t fit in or have a proper place in this world, their program becomes their home. Their family. A place where they can be themselves. And to take this away from these teens for the most selfish reason of cutting costs? It’s disgusting. There simply is no reason for it, if anything there should be more money invested in growing these programs.

As a TOPS (Talented Offerings in the Programs of the Sciences) alumni of Bloor Collegiate Institute, I strongly oppose against this phasing out, especially since students can benefit so much from specialized learning. This is a right that should not be taken away from students, and I'm disgusted that people are even considering this.
