Having these special programs are what make students improve and stretch themselves. Each student has worked hard to get into the programs, because they are passionate for certain topics. It's a way to help and improve each student, and by abandoning these special programs students' growth and curiosity will decrease. Keep the special programs, let students push themselves and grow.

As a graduate of both the Claude Watson and gifted programs, I cannot stress how important those experiences were to my development and overall success in school and beyond. In subsequent years and now as a parent, I appreciate even more what those programs do for the culture of the whole school, not just the individuals enrolled in the programmes themselves.

In my firat year in university I was able to get an 85% average. This never would have happened without my IB education, which would have been outside the financial capabilities of my family if our local high school did not offer it. Anyone who does nor see the value of IB and other specialized programs clearly has not been through them.

The board shouldn't be taking down specialized schools due to the imbalance of attendees and make students attend home schools. Indeed why not begin funding the schools with bad rep or poor resources to increase the amount of students attending.

Individualized instruction MEANS
Specialized programming. Equity initiatives simply designed for the sake of optics do not belong in quality schools. One size does not fit all.

Specialized programs are a great way to allow students to love school. Each person has different interests and ways of learning, and if they are not engaged then those students will fall behind, not like it care about school. The specialized programs allow all students to be interested in school,and learn in the best way for them. We need to keep these types of schools open.

I've been in specialized programs almost my entire life so far and without them honestly I wouldn't be challenged in my work. School would be even more dull and dreary without them. The TDSB really must be losing their minds.

this is completely outrageous. if the tdsb removes arts programs they are taking away amazing opritunities for so many children and forcing us to go to schools based off of our location without even giving us a chance to try to go to a school we actually want to go to.

It is important for us to keep our specialized programs in the school board so students who are interested in the arts or technical things can expand on their learning to possibly find jobs in things they are interested in.

Removal of specialized programming isn’t just about removing access to Arts-based programming it’s a denial of evidence-driven models that are student-centred and support young people to develop in ways that harness and nurture their growth.
The TDSB has been a thought leader in their ability to adapt and accommodate to the shifting demographic needs of its catchment populations, but a removal of specialized program will create a stain on its reputation.

Like equity, equality aims to promote fairness and justice, but it can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same things."
Does the TDSB Equity Task Force even know what Equity is? Looks like their aiming for equality, but not all kids are starting from the same place and need the same thing.
