I went to Earl Haig as a dance major and I would not be where I am today if it weren't for the Claude Watson arts program offered at Earl Haig S.S..

Why tdsb gotta be like that

This is actually crazy!!! I can't believe the tdsb is gonna do something like this!!! What if you need a specialized school and all this city has to offer is regular old schools for special people!!!

This is completely unacceptable

Please I got to ursula franklin and it has been amazing. Please tdsb don't do this all of our hard work getting our marks up and applying is going to waste.

Arts schools are our homes. Protect them

As a student. Don't do this, the system in place for specialized programs such gifted and special ed are horrible.

I believe students in specialized programs deserve the right to be happy and free. This "phasing out" won't create equity. It will hurt thousands of students! Is that what the board stands for?

Tdsb wants to take away the art schools? Are you kidding me? We worked so hard to get into them, we’re not gonna let tdsb take away all of our hard work.

Having these schools help students further developed in the things they specialize in. These schools allow teachers as well as students do what they love and get inspiration from other who enjoy the same thing

This should not be happening. So many talented and smart people strive for this. They are successful cause of their special programs.

We should keep the specialized programs.

Keep specialized programs! It allows students to pursue their passions and learn.

Specialized programs are home to many students, and taking them out does more harm than good.

This is simply unacceptable. I've always admired TDSB for acknowledging the varying levels of needs and interests in students. There is a reason behind the success of these specialized programs. Without a gifted school program, the child who can solve problems faster than the rest of the class would soon feel bored or superior or simply demotivated. Without programs like IB (International baccalaureate) or TOPS (Talented Offerings for Programs in the Sciences), how can we expect those students who would like to face challenges and strive to do better to have any inspiration at all? Do we want a nation full of youths that are jack of all trades but master of none? As a tutor, I cannot expect Toronto, of all places, to smother creativity like this.

My son attended Claude Watson School for the Arts and also Claude Watson at Earl Haig S.S. The thought of these schools and arts based programs shutting down is a huge mistake. Encouraging students to further develop and become leaders in the arts benefits all society!
