This is not equity and would provide way less opportunities to students. Not to mention the wonderful programs that would be destroyed.

The TDSB is deciding to ruin the best thing about their schools. They are ruining the best learning environments that they have. They are ruining every successful thing in the TDSB. There's a reason that these programs are so sought after, and the TDSB is taking it for granted.

I strongly hope TDSB will keep these programs, it proved these programs being positivily impacted to the communities in the past many years! when these talented kids are in these special programs they can develop more and contribute more to our comnunities.

This is terrible! Shutting down programs like these would mean that many kids who have the potential to learn and grow will not be able to accomplish such things. These programs create an opportunity for kids to challenge themselves in school.

Please do not do this. Removing these programs will remove a lot of the drive that many students have and it will place is back into the dull normal school life.

I Disagree with the proposed changes to eliminate the disparities of schools. On the contrary, I believe competition and varieties should exist to meet the different needs of the students. General schools should be encouraged to learn from those sucesssful programs and improve their quality of education. Eliminating those wonderful programs is harmful to the existing public education system.

The reason for this is the fact that this would upset a lot of families. I myself am in one of these specialized programs, or the TOPS program, and it irks me that the TDSB would do this. Specialized programs are there to give educated learning to kids who want to take more initiative; not a place to insult other children. The fact is, hundreds of kids who were looking forward to going to the TOPS program, or IB, or even the leadership program at R.H. King now don’t have the option of taking higher education. By doing this, you don’t create equity between children; you prevent children from becoming the best person they can be.

I can't believe this is in the name of EQUALITY. If these specialized programs did got eliminated, wealthy families would still have the option to put their kids in private schools. Working class families like ours would be the ones who really suffer. We would have to painfully watch our kids with special needs not reaching their potential, but couldn't do anything to help.

Every kid is special. Equity is not just making same for everyone. Special programs for the special needs of the students are reflecting of equity.

Probably a hastily made cover story for poor distribution of funds and lack of proper management. Maybe focus on more relevant issues such as crime at schools and make your facilities representative of a G7 country (ie. fix the absolutely unsanitary washrooms and lack of air conditioning at many of your institutions). If you are focused on removing enrichment opportunities that are working just fine in other, more academically accomplished and prominent countries than ours, at least come up with a better excuse than "equity".

Getting rid of specialized programs will ruin school communities built upon the se programs. It will limit students abilities. Everyone no matter where they live can are eligible to be in each program. With out this it will divide students who are brought together through a common program. Students should be encouraged to want to excel in a certain field because these skills will help them in the future. The programs are very successful and inspire youth to create.
