What is equality? Equality can be many things, but it doesn't mean merely no differences.

So stupid. I busted my ass to get in and be successful in IB. Equity doesn’t mean giving hardworking and non-hardworking students the exact same chances. It means giving all hardworking students chances regardless of upbringing. Being hardworking is all you need to get into any specialized program

I strongly disagree to phase out specialized programs.

TDSB does not want students that have passion to study, This organization see a danger in gifted and smart children. These bureaucrats do not like diversity, they prefer faceless, impersonal, factory made kids. Hey! TDSB! Leave them kids alone!

Equity should inspire a higher standard of education - and not be used to justify regression of qualitative education.

Special student deserves special education. Group them together will help to build confidence and improve each other.

Many special programs, especially, TOPS, are designed for students that have spare time and energy, and want to learn more than curriculum. For these students, the same amount knowledge that other students work for are too easy. Forcing them back means to waste their time and kill their potential.

I Disagree with the proposed changes to eliminate the disparities of schools. On the contrary, I believe competition and varieties should exist to meet the different needs of the students. General schools should be encouraged to learn from those sucesssful programs and improve their quality of education. Eliminating those wonderful programs is harmful to the existing public education system.

I can't believe that this is in the name of "equity". Does equity mean no more than equality? Students try hard to get into these programs; they work for them. Why would the TDSB want to remove this and prevent students from being acknowledged for their achievements? What goal does this achieve?

Getting rid programs such as the Claude Watson program is like taking away arts&culture in our society. Do we want something absurd like this? Let's not forget it is exactly these specializations that make each of us unique, the excuse of saying "inequality" or "unfairness" is absurd. Where in the world do we have perfect fairness for everyone? That sounds a lot like communism!!!

As a TOPS student, I believe that phasing out special education programs from the TDSB is a foolish decision.

I totally disagree with the phase-out recommendations. Current programs are the best and the most beneficial to both students and teachers community.

These programs help students who don't necessarily excel in the traditional academic sense. Phasing them out will result in the next generation of students not having access to materials that could play a large role in their future.
