The confederate monument needs to stay. It's part of our history and should be left alone.

Please do not fold to the PC Police they are a bunch of Idiots that don't care about your rights or heritage. The Civil War was about a way of life an thousands of great people died for their cause this should never be forgotten or be stuck in a Museum, It should be a part of everyday life here in the South... Never to be forgotten...

The Confederate Flag is not racist, It's part of our heratige. Some people are offended by the American Flag, why don't we remove it too! I am proud of my heritage!

I think people have taken this way to far. People died and to remove it is Shameful and not American and us as USA citizens better wake up before we let people dictate our way of life.

Trying to tie confederate civil war monuments to 2015 displays of racism is a stretch. This is just an excuse for those interested in deepening the divide between the races. It's ridiculous.

The War of Northern Aggression (aka Civil War) was about the right of states to succeed from the union.

To me and some of the estimated 70 million descendents of Confederate Veterans, the flag is representative of the men who fought to defend their country, state, homes and family against an unconstitutional invasion to force us back into what was originally a voluntary union. Does it improve race relations for these attacks on our history to continue?

I would agree that the monument and all monuments should be protected, but cannot agree with statement/paragraph about the flying of the flag from "state owned grounds". The statement about the flying of the flag, in my opinion, is a separate issue and puts the petition at cross purposes with itself. Sure, I am in favor of protecting the monuments, but by signing this petition, I am also saying that I want the Confederate flag to be removed from State grounds... something I don't agree with. Drop that paragraph and you may have a signer.

The Monument should remain. It reminds us this Country must be vigilent to remain as ONE regardless of differences!

Removing the Memorials to Our Sacred Dead will not change this Nation's History! No matter how much you try to erase the Past, it still exists! The people that want to destroy My Heritage are doing nothing except helping to steer the Nation and the World into an amalgamation of Lies!

When does the erasure of our history end. If you don't remember the past you are doomed to repeat it.
