Preserve Your Voice At AIA

I oppose the changes that the Az Interscholastic assoc. Legislative Council is proposing. It weakens local control of our schools when we need to working toward strengthening local control.

I support equal representation across the state of AZ on behalf of all students and schools no matter how small and rural.

Keep schools in the loop

in the past the school board members and the superintendents have been the biggest supporters of the AIA. Why do they not trust us to be a part of the decision-making.

School board members should be allowed a say in the governance of interscholastic sports. Greater transparency is a must for the AIA

School Board members are a vital part of this team and need to be retained. It the past they have brought up important perspectives on issues affecting our students.

Focus on doing what's best for our students.

There is no explanation given for non-including ASBA. It would have been educational to know the reason for many of the proposed changes.

Please engage in a transparent governance study to make representation fair for all Arizona students when it comes to any changes being considered by the AIA Legislative Council in matters concerning student fairness, fiduciary responsibility and athletics here in Arizona.

I think the Leg. council and Exec, committee should expand but still include ASBA district board members. I like the idea of athletic directors being on the committee. However, school board members should remain an active part of the association. Board members represent parents and communities. Their concerns about their students should be allowed.

Must keep ASBA's voice in the decision making process.

This could break up the AIA or cause a rift in this State. Publicly elected school board members MUST RETAIN THEIR VOICE ON THE AIA. They are responsible to the voters, not hired school staff.

The proposal will shift the decision making process only to those who are effected by the outcome of such decisions. I've found that changes the balance to the adults - and away from the kids. "The inmates run the asylum" process. ASBA representation keeps that balance and must remain as Members of the Legislative Committee. As a Board Member and past Representative of the Legislative Committee, I strongly disapprove of the changes presented in that it shifts the balances in "checks and balances." "Victory with Honor" also means with fairness in the competition.

This proposal is the antithesis of fairness, a cornerstone of athletics, and does nothing to serve or support Arizona students. As a governing board member for Paradise Valley Unified School District, add my voice against those who would silence it at AIA.

As the executive Director of the Arizona Rural Schools Association I oppose the proposal to be voted on Sept. 25th by the legislative council.

This proposal is utterly ridiculous. The AIA has failed miserably its member schools the past few years, and this proposal only dooms the member schools for the future.

The AIA should stop being a good old boy network. As a school board member of Nogales Unified School District I oppose your intent to eliminate our voice.
