The proposal to close the trails has been scrapped and the dam remains open for riding. I am genuinely overwhelmed by what you accomplished here because this victory belongs entirely to the riders who refused to back down.

There is a proposal on the table to convert Thomaston Dam into a walking path. Sign this petition to urge our lawmakers to preserve Thomaston Dam as an off-road motorcycle area and opt for an alternative route for the Naugatuck River Greenway.
Thomaston Dam is used by many people, including families, to enjoy off-road motorcycling. This proposal would eliminate 50% of legal places to ride off-road in the state of CT and would be a detrimental loss to the motorcycling community. It would also have an impact on local businesses currently benefitting from people traveling to Thomaston from all over, including out of state, to use the dirt bike trails at Thomaston Dam.
There is a hearing on 12Jan22. Collected signatures will be shared with Senator Blumenthal and Thomaston First Selectman Ed Monte on Monday, 10Jan22 10pm.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum we have built together because I never thought this would reach so many people. If we could keep this energy going just a little longer we might actually land on a thousand signatures before the deadline. This entire process is proving that clear action belongs to all of you.

I’ve been here walking & I love that it’s a place for dirt bike riding!!!!! I’ve never run into issues and the bike riders have always been respectful. I hope that it can be kept up as a riding place for there isn’t many spaces like this in CT.
I am against this closing to motorized off road use. I come down from Maine several times a year with my family. To ride your trails and spend money camping and eating and I am not the only one that travel from out of state to ride your trails
Please keep motorized access a part of the Thomaston Dam. Closing access to one of the few available riding areas only serves to concentrate motorized trail users on dwindling locations, which accelerates decay of those remaining resources from overuse. Thank you.
My son and I spend countless hours a year riding at Thomaston Dam. There are plenty of walking trails in CT, to turn one of the only legal places to ride would be cruel. Let us enjoy the one legal place to ride and let the walkers have their hundred of walking trails.
There are 1743 hiking trails and 2 for bikes. Destroying 50% of existing bike use to add 1 additional Greenway seems especially foolish and targeted considering there is a study proposing good alternative routes that would preserve the Dam
With no place to ride there will be no reason to reg. Off road bikes We take are money to surrounding states that support up. And yes we buy food and gas in those states as well that helps out there Communities
We need the dam area we can't ride blue trails save the dam please.

If we take this away from riders, we will see more illegal riding on the streets which posses a threat to riders and drivers. Thomaston has a nice track for people to walk on, and surrounding areas already have beautiful nature walk places like white memorial.
