I treasure our cultural heritage. The stability and identity it gives us is also a reminder of our participation in a greater journey of life. The Lummis Home is a beautiful presence of such inspiration. We should take good care of it, as it provides all of us with these reminders.

I began my career as a docent at the Lummis home in 1989. It is truly a one-of-a-kind landmark built by one of the seminal figures in Los Angeles history. Lummus dedicated his life to preserving the architecture and heritage of the Southland. It would be in the best interest of the city to move swiftly and allow Occidental College to steward this important landmark for future generations.
