LA is eager to destroy what little history we have left only to profit a few people temporarily. history is forever. Rome isnt a town of condos for nothing. Imagine townhouses where pyramids once stood. do the right thing.

This unique, hand built house, for Charles Lummis, who was an editor for the Los Angeles Times. It's woven tightly into the area history and is worth preservation.

Architecture is part of our cultural heritage. Without out a sense of history we are lost. Buildings like this are a tangible touchstone to our past, which gives us a sense of place in today's world.

The City of Los Angeles needs to not only dedicate time and funds to the preservation of the Lummis Home but realize the importance of our City's past and it's historic architecture. We preserve for future generations so that they may be educated and understand the history of Los Angeles.

The city needs to quit stalling and take care of the resources it already has.

For many years I have enjoyed the great legacy of all the Lummis events in Northeast LA. As an Occidental alumni and Los Angelino, I join the signatories in urging support for the Lummis House preservation.

Do not let this irreplaceable monument to Los Angeles' early history and site of one of the first influential arts and literary salons in the city be lost or damaged.

The home our founding father of Highland Park and The South West Museum must be saved. We must preserve the legend and the history of such a great man and city.
