Preserve the Historic Georgetown Bank Building (Non-resident Petition)

I agree this building needed to be saved. But I say it needed to be saved along time ago. It is to far in disrepair at this time. Several years ago there was concrete poured to have something to hold up the exterior walls. this concrete was poured as a floor. If you go up the steps to the second floor you will see the wall have given way from the floor. The building and by the way along with the old hotel should be hauled to the dump.

This building has some of the best character in Georgetown... would be a complete shame to tear it down.

It is difficult to express the vital importance of prederving our history. It is not only to validate our existance, but to give those left behind a sense of belonging. Without our stories, who are we?

Please reconsider and preserve the historic Georgetown Bank. Georgetown holds so many wonderful memories of my childhood. Carefree times when everyone knew everyone and when help was needed, it was there. My Aunt Sally and Uncle Russ owned and operated the little grocery across the street from the bank, Mrs Dreher ran a little shop further up the street, we would walk down there from school and get a candy bar and soft drink, I loved going in the Post Office and hearing the floor boards creak beneath my feet. Let's do everything we can to save these memories and find pride in restoring and maintaining the old Bank building.

In 1953 I lived in a rental house that is now part of the bank's parking lot. That bank is part of my personal history. Please save it.

I'm a 53 yr resident of Georgetown. I remember this building as both a bank and branch of Floyd Co. BMV

Although I have been gone for almost 50 years, my heart will always be in Georgetown. This building was truly one of the significant buildings in our small business district. It is so sad to see small-town America become "museum pieces" instead of thriving. Conserving this structure speaks volumes about the value of small-town life.

As Georgetown is my hometown I pray that they vote to keep any building of historical significance. it is our history that has made us who we are and sharing our history with future generations is our duty do they know whet they came from. Repurposing historical buildings is a way to reconnect that past with the future. I ask you....HOW WOULD YOU FEEL NOT KNOWING YOUR HISTORY? Please repurpose this building for all future residents.
