Mhsa is a special school, full of talent. I would've hated high school if I went anywhere else, this school was a blessing to me, so full of talent.

without the arts, you would lose not just brilliant painters and quintessential artists-- you would have missed chances for students realizing they want to be a photographer, architect, choreographer, clothing designer, the list goes on. cutting the arts does not benefit everyone, and in the public school system removing these opportunities further hinders those that want to break into these fields of expertise, and in turn makes these fields an area accessible only to the elite. give the brilliant and creative minds a place to flourish!

Not only is this an amazing school, art is key not only to sociery, but enriches a mind in such skill as math and visualization. These skills are key for such jobs as drafting and engineering.

MHSA was one of the cornerstones of my growing up, allowing me to become what I would like to consider a more than functioning member of society. Every Student should be given the same opportunities and education in the Arts that I was allowed. They will be better people for it.

I am a professional musician in Nashville, graduate of and former Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music. MHSA had an immeasurable impact on me. What I was exposed to there not only opened my eyes and ears to new worlds of music, but also helped me test out of 14 college credits, which allowed me to graduate in 3 years instead of 4. Exposure to and instruction in the arts creates balanced, well-rounded humans - please don't put a stop to that.

We have to save the arts programs at MHSA so the youth can have an opportunity to grow a passion that last them a lifetime. I wouldn't be where I was today without my art teachers supporting me.

As an alumni of MHSA class of 2014 there were life experiences that I overcame through my art. I was in advance placement visual arts and I was exposed to many opportunities through my art. I think art is just as important as academics.

As an alumni of MHSA I feel the need to take a stand against the upcoming rules to be set. If you asked me- or anyone who attended Arts, we would say that MHSA was one of the only High Schools in MPS that truly let kids be the creative individuals they were meant to be. And it wouldn't be possible without every single teacher in that building who came to school everyday to make sure these kids got the education and have ability to expand their interests though forms of art. I say no to cutting funds or teachers. And I say no to uniforms. This goes against everything MHSA is about; creativity, individuality, and acceptance.

MHSA was a foundation in the development of my artistic talents, lead me to opportunites for a full tuition scholarahip at UW-Madison, the pursuit of my MA and my involvement in arts programming now. It is critical to current and future students of MHSA to have the opportunities to thrive in their artistic talents as well.

The education I received at MHSA has been invaluable. I learned that thinking critically and being creative are not mutually exclusive. I use out of the box thinking to solve logical problems everyday and I credit MHSA's unique curriculum for helping me develop that skill. Please don't deprive future students of this one of a kind learning experience.

I am a product of Milwaukee High School of the Arts. This rigorous arts education has shaped me into the educator that I am. I went on to the University of Minnesota to study and earn my B.F.A. In Dance, then went on to New York University to obtain a M.A. in Dance Education. I am now a certified dance teacher in the state of New York, and teach dance to elementary students in Brooklyn. I am blessed to have had an amazing and rich arts education at MHSA! Please save the arts!
