Preserve the Suzuki as a Public, Open Park

As I understand it this key parcel of land was acquired by the city with the purported intent to protect it and make it public space. The possibility that this intention could be subverted into a plan to convert all or part of this land to private development is outrageous. An act such as this by the city would lend further credence to many people's distrust of our city government and would invite yet another round of acrimony and lawsuits. If there is any overarching goal for the current city council it ought to be to restore trust and goodwill amongst the citizenry, and for this reason alone the council should do everything it can to protect the public's interest and secure ALL of this property for the public's use and benefit in perpetuity.

Let's not infringe on one of the last significant wetlands on the island. We need to preserve what mature forest is left for future generations.

I support high-density, affordable housing, provided the location of that housing has regular, all-day transit service, adequate amenities within walking distance, and adequate infrastructure. This parcel has none of those attributes so until it does, leave it as it is.

This land needs to remain parkland. Installing dense housing would cause tremendous traffic issues in an area that already suffers from bad traffic backups multiple times daily. This lovely here area with wetlands should be treated responsibly, and will be much better used as a park and cared for by the Parks District.

The 3 proposed housing developments would all clearcut many of the mature trees on the Suzuki property. We need to save them for ourselves and the next generation.

I moved to this island for many reasons - but not to have it slowly converted to look like Issaquah. Please keep Bainbridge's soul healthy and not "develop" this land.

This land tract is sandwiched between four schools, and the streets on the two sides of this tract are already congested during the morning and afternoon school times. More development would make this even more difficult to get through. We need this open space as a buffer and to prevent worse congestion around the schools.
