This is a beautiful piece of uncleared land, something precious that we are losing week by week on Bainbridge. Please do the morally right thing and preserve it.

Our future depends on the foresight to preserve open space. We need affordable housing, and it should be included as part of all developments on land without old growth forest. This parcel should be kept undeveloped.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the citizens of Bainbridge Island to have a publicly owned park in this part of the island. How can we even think of passing it on to developers?

I agree, the community needs to come together on this. Perhaps picketing city hall may make a difference? This way our voices would be heard. I vote to preserve the land. If the city council is listening to their people, how else would they know what we citizens want to do with the property unless they put this to a vote? In addition, this would bring too much traffic to the school area, which is already congested. Safety for children!

We should maintain the island's character, and this land should be a park to help maintain the character.

I had an opportunity to tour this property on Saturday and believe it is in the best interest of the BI community to preserve this property for future generations and wildlife to enjoy. There are better parcels in the downtown core to provide affordable housing. Thank you.

Let's work toward solving the issue of affordable housing by revising city ordinances so that it is easier for homeowners to rent out attached dwelling units (A win-win that allows existing homeowners to afford rising property tax payments and creates lower-rent housing options); require anyone building or renovating commercial property to include second-floor apartments in their plans; and redevelop existing commercial/residential property for affordable housing. The heart and soul of Bainbridge Island is being destroyed every time another acre is clear cut. The Suzuki property must be preserved as open space.

Yes, I agree the community needs to join together and take action. Action means serious picketing around city hall on a daily basis until the council members listen to their citizens. Why wouldn't something like this be put to a vote? We the people own the land, therefore we the people should decide. I believe that a council who does not listen to their people should be taken out of office. Is this not a democracy? Should we be looking to take political action upon those who do not listen to their citizens at this time? We need to be ready to take action before it is too late. How many times does this sort of thing need to happen before we learn how to take action legally and properly to protect our rights and preserve the land?

No one wants to bulldoze this beautiful spot to get more unnecessary development, in an environnmentally-unfriendly and fiscally-irresponsible way. Please DO NOT damage the city's reputation even further after plowing forward (literally) with the Visconsi development that was so opposed by the people who live here.

This space should be preserved. The city should offer incentives to encourage more affordable housing to be built on privately-owned property.
