Preserve Saltwater Recreation in Virginia!

I am a recreational boater off Broad Bay and want to see tougher restrictions on commercial oyster farming and aquaculture farming close to residential areas and recreational waterways.

Just don't want those dangerous cages along the residential high use boating areas. We are truly concerned, these cages and all oyster farming should be done in designated areas of the river as to not impede on the homeowners or the boaters.

These oyster harvesters are intruding on my recreational interests; I have three boats and I pay much more in taxes than any of these watermen!

I live on Broadbay and it would be very dangerous to have these oyster beds around our docks on property. We've already had friends that I've had an accident with their kids on one. Also we have had issues with the commercial crabbers being nasty and putting crab pots where we swim and refusing to remove them 15 feet from our beach.

I dont think that there should be any more obstructions in the water.

I am a recreational boaterr and enjoy the Lynnhaven tremendously. I do not think aquaculture should be encroaching so close to homes and a busy Waterway

What the oyster community is trying to accomplish is unfair to take this privilege away from the citizens and homeowners who reside in this community.

Gotta preserve the good times shredding and being care free. Though I love oysters and appreciate their cleansing abilities....there needs to be restrictions on their harvest especially when it benefits the greedy uppers...

Thanks for your support in this, David. What would you think if the commercial activity was far from homes and recreational boaters, preferably wilderness areas, such as the large +/-600 acre wilderness area just inside the Lesner Bridge?

I am against this project for many reasons: water safety, unknown future homeowner difficulties for bulkhead/pier maintenance's, ugliness of these littering the waterways, obvious need for govt. overseeing this, existing permits are not being fully used (so why more?), the obvious greed of one person wanting these permits.

I am opposed to commercial oyster farming in the Lynnhaven River.

I can't imagine anyone eating oysters out of Lynnhaven with all the nasty runoff we have.

The downside risk outweighs any financial gain.
