ATTENTION BURBANK RESIDENTS! You may recall about a year ago, the Walla Walla County Commissioners held a public hearing here in Burbank to let us know they realized a loophole in the building code offered no limits as to how many homes could be built per acre in the county, and offered a plan to address the concern. To allow time to study the issue, they passed Interim Ordinance 471 limiting the construction of homes per acre to 4. It was a temporary measure set to expire August 7, 2019.

Since the study is not yet complete, the Commissioners have scheduled another public hearing for Monday, July 29, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Walla Walla County Commissioners' Chambers to hear public comment, and to decide on whether an extension of the ordinance is warranted. https://www.co.walla-walla.wa.us/document_center/commdev/planning/Public%20Notices/ZCA18-002%20Notice%20of%20BOCC%20Public%20Hearing%2007-29-19%20Interim%20Ordinance.pdf

We as a community must make our thoughts and voices known to the commission. You can write or email the commissioners and the community development department at [email protected], or you can attend the meeting in person and testify. You can also sign this online petition if you are in favor of extending the ordinance, preserving the maximum 4 homes per acre rule. The petition will be delivered to the commissioners at the hearing on July 29th.

Because this is a petition to the government, we need to have your address and contact information to show proof of residency in Burbank to the commissioners. Please include your address and phone or email in the comments box next to the signing button, or they may not accept your signature. Information provided to the petition will be used only for the purpose of making our voice heard at the commissioners meeting. It will not be sold or otherwise disseminated. There is no fee or cost to sign the petition. Please do not feel you need to donate to iPetitions to make your voice heard. Just fill in the boxes with your name, email, and add your home address in the comments box, then click on the sign petition button. Questions regarding the petition may be directed to Wayne at [email protected]

The undersigned hereby request that the Commissioners of Walla Walla County do extend to the longest term possible ZCA18-002 – Interim Ordinance – Residential Density in Burbank Residential Zone Ordinance No. 471, adopted on August 7, 2018, which among other things limits the building of homes to a maximum of 4 units per acre.

We moved out here for the space not to live on top of our neighbors. Keep the 4 home limit.
