I graduated from Richwood High School in 1958. I am opposed to the proposed consolidation of Richwood schools. I am a retired teacher/administrator and believe keeping the schools localized is more efficient and is educationally a more positive approach.

The school needs to be returned to Richwood. With a consolidated school too many struggling students will fall through the cracks. I feel the core classes will be too large and the electives too many to have a class with greater than 10 students. The athletes from the Richwood and Nettie area will not be able to participate because of their address.(it's all in the name and location on the other end of the county)

Isn't FEMA money supposed to be used to restore what was lost? Using FEMA money to "replace" NCHS and the Nicholas VoTech center, which were not flooded is an abuse of FEMA provisions.

This should not even be a consideration! Consolidation will soil education in Nicholas County! Our small schools catch kids before they slip through the cracks and ensure they become somebody. Consolidation will mean more kids slip through those cracks. Preliminary data suggests this county will fail those children and many more in the pursuit of bigger and better!

This is the home town of my grandparent his dad was sheriff of Richwood. Just feels like loosing piece off there home town every time something is shut down or ran out.
