The county needs strong communities as a tax base. To remove the school from Richwood would be as big of a negative impact on the community as the loss of the hospital. Revitalization of the community will be highly unlikely without the school. Why leave FEMA money on the table when our economy is depressed?

Consolidation is a huge mistake. Don't use this tragedy to benefit others. The kids are the ones that will suffer.

Who's to say they can't be all in one building... dividing them off somehow. when I was a kid we had 4th through 9th in one building, we used one wing and the junior high used one wind. A lot of good has come out of Richwood schools. The band is a great award winning band. On of the band members just got a $48,000 scholarship at a competition where he played. This band practiced over the summer after the flood an after losing so much and in an old car garage of all places! The small school atmosphere is the best place for an education, and for life... it makes them closer knit in the community as well, and makes them fight harder when disaster strikes.Take away this school and you take away a lifeline for the kids of Richwood! This town rallies behind the kids, and that wasn't learned by going to a consolidated school. This country needs to bring back more small schools
