Stop the ignorance. Keep monuments so that we may teach our children the mistakes of the past.

Leave ALL Statues and Monuments! These were NOT erected/placed out of hatred. They are there to remember the fallen. They are there to remember the terrible historical conflict that this country went thru.

Removing this memorial would be the same as removing a headstone. Leave the memorial alone!

Lets stop letting the media and politicians feed us in matters that keep us devided. Lets let our History be preserved so that we are not destined to repeat it!

We cannot hide our own history, if we do we will be forever doomed to repeat it. We need to reflect from history and learn to work and cooperate together, and to work out our differences, removing all confederate statues and monuments in the entire nation will not solve anything! We need to promote love, peace and happiness to everyone of all walks of life, remember hatred and racism is taught.

This madness has to stop. Erasing history will doom us to repeat it.

Isn't vandalism against the law? Why should we honor the petition to remove the monument if they are going to break the law and vandalize it?

Not every monument or memorial was placed to make a person of color feel uncomfortable but to honor the deaths of those lost. If we tear down every monument every memorial it's like erasing the past. We're doomed to repeat those misdeeds.

If we take down this monument, such as other states are doing, what next? The Washington Monument, all statues of every part of history that makes people feel uncomfortable?

I'm ashamed to call the people who want to take down history "my fellow citizens".

If we erase our history, we increase the possibility of repeating it. Can we not see, there would be no end to this attempt to destroy our past through hatred, racism, greed, ignorance and now murder. Don't let this thing spiral out of control!

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. — Niemöller

Preserve historical monuments, tearing them down is foolish and dangerous.
