My great grandfather was a captain in the confederate army. Should I tear up his picture? I think NOT!

The fallen soldiers born here in America should not be belittled. Please let our history as a nation stand as a reminder of where we have been and show the growth from that place. To say that we now need to remove something like this means we did not learn from it or move past it.

Leave the monuments alone! The history surrounding the Civil War has already been sadly distorted and manipulated. This only encourages more of the manipulation.

I side with history, and that people should learn their facts before lashing out at stone. This monument honors the dead, not the bigotry behind the war.

We have to stop giving in to what people want and do what's right. It is a part of our history whether right or wrong. People died on both sides fighting the war and both should be remembered by leaving these statues alone.

If you start erasing history then no one will learn from it. You also cannot judge anyone from the past by today standards. That was their way of life, they didnt know anything else. Leave the monuments alone, and I mean all the monuments.

All life is precious. This monument is in honor of young men who lost their lives way too early. It should prompt us to realize how damning war is to both sides. Anyone who sees hatred in this monument already has hatred seated in their heart. This monument’s not going to cause it.
