These monuments represent our history and should be preserved. Unfortunately there are groups of people who have a political agenda who want to erase and rewrite American history.

People need to know the history of the monument. You can't get rid of history. You must learn from it and not repeat it.

This is not a monument for any sort of cause this is a monument of human lives lost and history. If we forget the history we are bound to repeat it.

This just goes to show the ignorance of so many people. If they don't know the REAL history or reason behind it, they want to turn it into something that it isn't, just to suit them. We are being forced to give up statues, monuments, relics, & memorials just because if they have anything to do with the Confederacy, then they're representing slavery & hate. This is where the ignorance comes in. People that start this stuff need to be educated & not go by what they were influenced to believe when they don't know the facts. Statues & monuments of American history are being removed & torn down all across the country now, & some has even been removed from school history books. How are we supposed to preserve our history & learn from it if people keep wanting to tear it all down & hide it from those in the present, & those in the future? Yes, bad things happened...good things happened...it's been that way since the beginning of time. There is nothing anyone can do to change the past. All we can do is learn from it, & do our best to see that it doesn't happen again. The only way that can be accomplished tho, is if we preserve our history. Too many politicians are giving in to all of the cry-babies out there, & as I said, we are being forced to give up everything just to pacify them. Apparently, not all American citizens have the same rights anymore, because ours are being ignored. That monument is not promoting racism. None of the statues or monuments are promoting racism. Only the people who are misguided & uneducated, are causing & promoting racism. Leave the monument alone!

Anyone that does not stand up for Preserving our history will no longer get my vote. I cannot or will not bow down to a group of ignorant people, that does not know the very meaning of these monuments . I am a Business owner in this town, a taxpayer, and a voter. These children do not know anything about history, they are not taught about it nor the price that people have paid, for what? So this group of people can run around our town screaming it offends them, I would bet over half are not even from Tennessee. If it is removed I will find out who is behind it and they will not have my vote when it comes time .

Preserve our history! Honor our fallen Confederate soldiers! Stand up for those who took a stand so long ago against northern oppression!

THIS MONUMENT IS TO HONOR THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND DIED FOR THE FREEDOM OF EACH STATE TO GOVERN ITS SELF AND THEY FOUGHT FOR THEIR HOMES AND THEIR FAMILIES. MOST OF ALL THE SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT DIDN'T EVEN OWN SLAVES. STOP CONTORTING OUR HISTORY TO FIT AN EVIL AGENDA BEING PERPETRATED AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THE MONUMENT IS OURS, THIS TOWN IS OURS AND WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW OUTSIDERS TO COME IN AND TELL US TO DISMANTLE OUR HISTORY. THIS IS WHAT THE CONFEDERACY STOOD FOR ALSO, NOT THE RIGHT TO OWN SLAVES OR RACISM. PLEASE DO SOME HISTORY RESEARCH BEFORE ITS ALL DESTROYED.

This represents all the lives lost during a war that could not be completely won by either side..history did not start in 2008 but 1774. If we start this now how many more monuments will offend somebody?

These monuments honor US Soldiers! They were included in the ranks of the U.S. Military and taking down this monument is a disgrace

I believe we learn from our past. Please leave our moments both Northern and Southern one where they are!! We must remember America's History to keep from repeating the past.

You won't remove the history by removing the statues. They all need to be left alone and people need to stop bowing down about our past. It's the past it will always be a part of History.
