The situation puts our standing as a family friendly town at risk. It is the vacationing families that bring the summer economic benefits--not the day trippers. I would think this should be of some concern to the business interests in the town. My family no longer goes to May Flower because of the events of the past few years.

Yes our town officials have ignored this problem for so long that it is now way out of hand. I was there on the 4th when those 5 teens were arrested because of public fornication. Are you kidding me! My grandfathers beach now seems like a scene out of Animal House. Get a grip public officials and start doing the jobs were elected to do of serving and protecting its innocent residents. Thank you.

There should be no drop offs unless you have a Dennis town beach sticker and the price to park for the day should be raised to at least $60. The mountain resorts get up to $100 for ski season. Signage is also an issue; The arrows on the signs are very misleading. There should also be more police presence at the intersection of Beach Street, Black Flats Road, Taunton Avenue, and Horsefoot Path. Thank you! I'll Be There!

I have friends and family who witnessed such unruly behavior July 4 weekend on our slice of heaven, Mayflower Beach. We had people urinating and defecating in our dunes in front of my 76 year old parents and 10 and 12 year old nephews all week long. We had another evening where a fight broke out after people drank all day on our beach and then their tops and bathing suits came off.! No one is policing the drinking on the beach. Our friends and family then witnessed the wild scene as two couples had sex in the water in front of families and children swimming around them. A crowd then formed cheering them on. Where were the individuals to stand up to such unruly behavior and say this behavior is not allowed in front of our families and children? And then to hear a 9 year old was approached by someone trying to sell a child heroin?? There is trash overflowing on Horse Foot Path entrance each day. People who don't respect our beaches are leaving their trash everywhere on the dunes and right in the paths to the beach.
Enough is enough! Stop the drop offs and charge each person coming to this gorgeous beach. Maybe they will respect our beaches if everyone has to pay to come to our beach. The residents pay their taxes to be able to come to these beaches. Why shouldn't everyone else? Better yet keep it a residents only beach for those residents who pay taxes and who respect these beaches!

The Town is making good money on the beach and now it is time to step up. There needs to be more police presence until the groups of young adults change their ways or leave. Coolers need to be searched and all alcohol removed. For the benefit of the neighborhood the waiting line needs to go. Once the lot is full that should be it. Lot is closed. Now cars circle the neighborhood driving at high rates of speed down narrow dirt roads continuously waiting for a chance to get in the waiting line. It should not be up to a high school girl to argue with unruly people to keep moving when the lot is full. A detail officer should be on duty at all times.

I have been going to Mayflower beach for over 40 years. I am not in favor of getting rid of the drop at the end of Horsefoot path I frequently use this drop off location I would totally support a Dennis resident drop off sticker. I believe that if you are a Dennis resident and posses a sticker on your vehicle you can drop off. If you don't have a sticker you should be turned away and not let down to the drop off area. The sticker would increase revenue for the town while keeping non residents from piling on to the beach at that location

Overcrowding could be minimized by increasing daily parking rates as well as increasing the rates for non-residential parking permits. They are presently way too low.
Uber has now contributed to the increase of drop offs. So there needs to be some plan that allows Dennis residents to drop off handicapped, elderly, Dennis renters and family members, yet discourages busses, Ubers and cabs of non-residents visitors.
An increase of police presence at all possible entrances will be a deterrent and can be paid for by increased rates.

This past weekend should be a wake-up call to the Town that something must be done. Keep in mind that there needs to be a permanent solution as people will take advantage if they find out it’s a temporary fix. Would like to also address the fact that many people were coming ashore from boats that were left unattended and well within 150 ft from swimmers.

To our town of Dennis,
We are writing to let you know of our extreme displeasure with the Town of Dennis’s management of Horsefoot Path and the Town Landing at Taunton ave./ Dr. Botero Rd.
For years we have tolerated the traffic, the endless lines of people trespassing on our property, people using our dunes as their toilet, cars unloading in our driveways, and the rudeness of people when confronted. No More! This fourth of July was the last straw.
For the last three years our neighborhood association( Bayside Beach Association Inc. consisting of 44 households ) has had to hire a police detail on Saturday and Sunday all summer in order to keep people from dropping off and picking up and to stop others from trespassing on our properties as they exit the beach. Last year we spent $2,200. for police details.
We have invested over a $1,000. for signs indicating the private beach areas and $500. per year to install and remove them.
Other property owners in the area have also invested in signage and at last count there are more than 40 “Private Beach No trespassing” signs on the beach between Taunton Ave and Horsefoot Path. How pretty is that?
We are going to great expense to protect our privacy and our properties but it is not making a significant difference because the town doesn't care how many people access the beach through their properties at Horsefoot and Taunton. This holiday weekend there were unsafe numbers of people on the beach that the town controls. There were people passed out drunk, there were people loudly swearing, there were kegs of beer, lots of marijuana, there were booze bottles strewn about, and probably the least offensive were the kids having sex on Mayflower !
Where did all these intoxicated people come from? They came from the Horsefoot Path entrance and they came from the Taunton ave. town Landing. Why?? Because no one checks for alcohol at either place and if anyone tells you differ

We urge the town to stop the unlimited drop offs at Mayflower Beach. When the parking lot is full with over 300 cars (after being assured that there would only 50), the BEACH IS FULL!! Residents are appalled at the situation.

Over the past 5 years some of us neighbors have offered the following suggestions:
1. Horsefoot Path to be a 1-Way on
weekends for a 2 hour window or so
2. Portable speed bumps on Horsefoot Path
3. Supervision of the Drop off area
seeing that it wasn't going to be eliminated
4. Adult/Police help for the beach parking attendants who are verbally abused on a regular basis.
5. Increasing the parking fee to $40 because that's what it costs for a family of 4 to go to the movies, play miniature golf, go go-carting, eat at a seafood stand or take out, etc. Think about it . . . for $20 - $25 beach-goers can pay to park ALL DAY, drink alcohol, smoke whatever, urinate, defacate, fornicate, swear, litter, leave trash and, most important of all, be disrespectful, speed upon their drunken exit and flip us the middle finger on their way out. These are just a few of our suggestions. It's time for the Town of Dennis to regain control of these northside beaches and promote the safety and quiet enjoyment of our neighborhood and the family values of: "Self-respect, Respect for Others and Respect for the Environment".
6. In the past year a NEW parking lot plan with a NEW entrance, NEW traffic flow pattern, NEW safe drop-off area, NEW exit pattern, NEW drop-off area with a NEW parking plan for the UPPER parking lot at Mayflower Beach.
NOTE: To implement this plan would require:
A. 1 - 2 more parking attendants to better park vehicles in order to increase revenue to efficiently offset the additional payroll required for extra attendants.
B. Adult/police supervision of drop off area (if it is NOT changed)
3. Help for the parking attendants who are constantly verbally abused
by parking patrons
It's great to increase revenues but not at the expense of our beaches and our neighborhood.

Agree with all comments about the beach and horrific drop off at mayflower, although we won't go to the beach in July and August. We watch
And are concerned about the cars that speed up and down horsefoot path particularly after 3 as people are picking up or going home for dinner. An accident waiting to happen
It is also of great concern that cars are sent to the end of horsefoot to drop off their gear leaving their cars unattended, making uturns with small children in the road, and blocking the emergency pathway Another accident waiting to happen
