Locals deserve the right to access and enjoy the park, including the ability to have gather around a fire. It is absurd that we should be denied that enjoyment.

Please involve the Community of Lopez in the planning of our parks. We are here to help guide you in your County Services. We would like the return of our fire rings at Odlin. How can we assist you in making this happen? Just ask.

We are an integral community that is diverse and wide. Online is one of those places on our island that we can go to and gather and celebrate and nourish this treasure that we share here, outdoors with the island and the water. Being able to cook and be warm by a shared fire is an essential part of what we share here. Perhaps there is a different way to solve the problem that includes community involvement or education or awareness. In my experience this is one of the things we do best here.

Odlin Park is one of our community treasures with a long history of large and small gatherings that serve the whole community. Removing the fire rings is an affront to this history. If there is a problem to solve about how the fire rings are being used, please bring it to the community. We can work together on this.

The re working of Odlin a few years back left the day use area with a poorly designed parking area , a few picnic tables and a few fire rings. The removal of the fire rings strips from the community much of what it is to commune…..sharing food ,songs, laughs and tears around a fire. In a time when most of us are occupied by the dull glow of our devices, …children and adults alike, the act of gathering and communing around a fire should be encouraged not eliminated. To post that fire pits are only for paying visitors is pathetic.

The fire pits are missed at Odlin, especially in this time where outdoor social options for gathering safely are so needed. Please bring them back

I favor returning the fire pits but would hope we can all be a part of a workable solution to whatever problems led to the decision to remove them.

We need the pits back. Been here 45 years and around many a fire- after baptisms- birthdays- weddings-prayer times- picnics- why change now- what can we do?this is awful.

Please replace the fire pits. When the fire risk is low and it's cool islanders are responsible and it is part of the culture! In the summer during high burn risk forbid the use. Thank you for the consideration!

Odlin park is an important community gathering space. It is one of the only public places which we can gather both by the water and around a fire. Many quasi public beaches have been lost in the last 20 years and there is a deep cultural and sometimes spiritual need to sit around a fire with family and friends next to the salt water. Please bring back the firepits so we can continue to celebrate, birthdays, births, weddings and memorials with both fire and water.

Odlin Park has a treasured place in our community. It brings back memories every time I visit! Family and friend gatherings around a fire while the little ones play in the sand, bare feet, as the sun sets. School class picnics. One of the important pieces that makes Lopez what it is.
