Preserve Community Access at Odlin Park

Please bring the fire pits back. They are a special part of the island.

This park should be restored to locals full access. The locals should have fire pits at Odlin. Having recently stayed in the Park at site 5, I can say with certainty that having the extra fire pits does not detract from the regular sites. Taking away access is stealing from tax payers.

This is junk! Who needs a fire ring when there's a combustible attendant shack

I have been grateful for the community use of Odlin and the fire pits since child hood. This community access and use is integral to our way of life and needs to be maintained please

Bring back the fire pits. Enforce behavior, but don't punish the rest.

Let’s revisit the mission statement of San Juan County: “Provide those public services necessary for the health, safety, and general well-being of the citizens of San Juan County. Strive to preserve the heritage of the islands, both environmentally and culturally. Serve taxpayers by managing public programs effectively and at the lowest cost. Recognize that county employees and citizen volunteers are the foundation upon which these services are provided. Deliberate and conduct the activities of government in a way that is ethical, fair, just, and impartial.” How do the actions of the Odlin Park management (at all levels) fit into the above description? It’s not too late to re-group, reconsider and respond differently.

Odlin Park is vital to our inter island community.

Trouble makers can be trespassed. Ridiculous reaction to punish the non campers at the park.

Keep the fire pits open for locals. Otherwise there will be more illegal beach fires which then could result in a bigger fire. Better to hqvecontroled area where large groups can safely gather outside.

We have many great memories around those fire rings! Good people, good music and good food!

For the past 33 years, Odlin Park has been a key place for our family to gather and socialize. We will occasionally have a fire, either for ambience or for cooking. As a tax paying member of Lopez Island, I politely demand that we have access to the park and to the fire rings. If current management does not understand the history of the park and it’s use by locals, perhaps we could have a sit down and clarify some points. If there is unlawful activity going on at the park, certainly that needs to be addressed, but I don’t think the general citizenry should pay for a few bad apples. Heather Arps

The Odlin Park Fire rings and beach have been an important gathering place for locals for many years. It is a wonderful place to celebrate and be together. Please allow ongoing local access to the rings. Thanks.
