As someone who frequently visits and uses the parks fire pits, this is a piss poor decision! Obviously the people who made this decision don't live on Lopez! They are taking away a community activity, without a voice of the community. It's time to hold these board members accountable for their piss poor decisions.

Please do not change the essence of the Day use area of Odlin Park. Odlin Park has been a historical gathering place of locals for generations. It's not JUST for campers. Locals, visitors, and campers have been recreating along side each other at Odlin forever! Removing the fire rings - removes our history and our rituals and our traditions. Lopez has a proven track record of Land Stewardship. If there are problems communicate and let us help you!

I had the privilege to live and work at Odlin park for 6 years, as the assistant manager and manager. We never saw any reason not to have the fire pits in the day use area. There was never a problem that would have warranted their removal. They have always been a central part of the park and Lopez community. Please replace them.

Please bring back the fire pits. If a small percentage of the public is causing problems, let's remind ourselves and each other how to share this resource rather than simply removing it because that's 'easier'.

The high value of having fire pits (many users x depth of experience) at Odlin outweighs periodic misuse. Sorry that the park has to deal with the problematic users but please don't punish the rest of us!

Oakland Park needs to remain open for Lopez events and Lopez people. That doesn't mean shut it off from the rest of the world. But it does mean think this through, it was volunteer Lopez labor that kept this park alive in weed Free for years and years. PLEASE do not deny them access in any way shape or form.
