It is important to keep learning any language. There are some kids that want to learn this language, and the more it is reduced in staff, the greater chance there is of this class disappearing.

The PVPUSD Vision statement "... to develop the whole child to thrive in a globally competitive age..." clearly demonstrates the necessity for Chinese language skills to be taught at the intermediate and high school levels within the District in order for our students to meet the challenges of a changing global economy.

The Chinese program sets this school district apart from others by offering this language for our children 's future. Speaking Mandarin will be a powerful tool for these students. Please continue to invest in their future.

Chinese is as important as English to speak and read in order to function in the world. Anyone who understands where the global economy is going will prepare by studying Mandarin Chinese.

Mrs.Ong is an amazing teacher, I learned so much in her class. It is very easy to get use to her teaching. I have no doubt that her class will be able to speak Chinese fluently. I really hope that she will continue teaching us.

I really am learning in Mrs.Ongs class and I think she teaches very well! We learn all kinds of fun and new things in her class. She is a great teacher that I think, from my perspective, should stay at Ridgecrest.

I think that if we, the students are learning and the Chinese program at RIS is going well, then you shouldn't have to change it. Also it would be hard for the teacher to travel between the schools and still be able to teach without being stressed about traveling to the next school. The s is only my opinion and I hope that they do not change how the Chinese program works.

I believe that this is definitely a cause worth petitioning for. We learn so much in class, and I can barely remember back when I had trouble saying some of the most basic things.

When I first came to Chinese 1A, I was very worried that the teacher was going to go too fast, and the other kids would by WAY more advance than me! But Mrs. Ong went at a great pace so that we were challenged and we got it! I felt so comfortable learning about the Chinese culture and language. Not only did 王老是 pace out he lessons really well, but she made our learning environment as fun and comfortable as possible! I looked forward to coming to Chinese class everyday!!! Why would we change this program if Mrs. Ong is doing a wonderful job at helping us learn all about the Chinese culture and language.I think that we should keep 王老是!!! I would love to have her next year and the year after that as well. She made not being a Chinese person not a big deal at all!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I and my family feel fortunate to stay at PV, since PVPUSD is one of the best school districts in USA.
When world changes, time changes, education shall change as well. To help our kids be successful in the future, we shall provide them with better tools and facilities to understand the changing world, and to be adaptive.
PVPUSD has wonderful Mandarin program for the middle school and high school students, and we are really proud for it. I fully believe it will make our students more successive in the long run, and time will prove. It might save us some money right now by not providing the Mandarin program to our kids, but what we save will be much smaller than what we lose.
People may argue that the parents can pay extra tuition to have their kids learn foreign languages outside of school. However, besides of the tuition, it is never an easy task for working parents to send their kids for additional education, and kids typically prefer to learn together with their friends. Thus the public education to the kids will become privilege for only a small portion of them, which makes me worry a lot.
I really hope PVPUSD keep the wonderful Mandarin program, and I hope our school district will always be the best in the future.
Best Regards,
Zhe Liu

I was horribly disappointed when we lost languages at the elementary school level. It would be disastrous for a top tier school district to remove or decrease access to a language like Chinese from the middle and high school level. These are the ages when language mastery is in easy reach. In 21st century learning, a foreign language is a "must." As over 1/6 of the world's population is Chinese and Chinese speakers increase in worldwide influences, we must keep this as a language option for our students, looking towards their successes as future world leaders in their respective fields.
Being bilingual is important for students' futures.
