Preserve a Historic San Diego Site: North Chapel at Liberty Station NTC

Please do not allow the destruction/refurbishment of this beautiful and special chapel! It is historic and needs to be preserved!

I vehemently oppose the sale of the North Chapel located in Liberty Station, especially for the purposes of destroying the historical building and it's sacred history for the purposes of an entertainment venue. The purchasing company should be ashamed of the sheer greed it is showing and lack of respect for the service and sacrifice of our military members that this Chapel represents. An entertainment venue can be built anywhere at anytime, but this Chapel can never be replaced. I will join the movement to shut down this shady and disgraceful plan!

If it’s use is altered then we boycott any new business. It worked for Bazaar Del Mundo and the new tenants closed after one year. This city should stand together against greedy outsiders who keep ruining our city and taking our money. No longer “The Finest City”.

Please save this historical landmark. I was married at the chapel in 1979 to the love of my life. He passed away in 2010 as a result of exposure to agent orange during the Vietnam War. The chapel has so many memories for me! Please save it!!!

This chapel is historic! A very important part of San Diego’s history. Respect its past, what it stood and stands for, World War II, “God and Country”. Don’t disrespect its importance, military history, and freedom of religion!!!

Please keep North chapel open to the public for their use in perpetuity and do not change or destroy the structure and beauty of this historical 1940s San Diego gem

I was married at this beautiful church while my husband was active duty. This is a sacred institution and should remain a chapel.

Please keep the North Chapel as a location for religious services.

The last thing that Liberty Station needs is another restaraunt, bar, or entertainment venue. Preserving the one remaining part of NTC that still functions in the way it was originally designed is important to preserving San Diego’s rich military history. Thousands of vets throughout the course of history have attended services in that chapel and preserving that history is every bit as important as preserving the history of one of our missions. To disrespect the history of the chapel and the thousands of people who have visited or worshiped there is a slap in the face to San Diego residents in order to make a quick dollar.

Designated Historic sites should remain free from any and all redesignations. That is the purpose of these sites being designated as Historic. Please make no changes to the current structure, and no changes to the current purpose of this site. Thank you.

The charm and history of the chapel are meaningful as well as beautiful and that cannot be replicated or replaced with today's trends.

This is a historically significant and unique structure and it is clearly required to continue its current use. There are many other structures better suited for retail and restaurants in liberty station.

As a native San Diegan, I'd really hate to loose the North Chapel to more retail/restaurants. Please don't do this. It's historical and belongs permanently in San Diego at its exact spot in Liberty Station.

Save it - stop McMillin!

This historic site needs to remain a place of worship. The lessee is bound to keep it as such according to the contract. City council needs to direct the City Attorney to review the contract and communicate instructions yo the majority leaseholder.

I think it is imperative to save whatever history we have in our city. Please do whatever is necessary to save this piece of our heritage.

I agree that the mayor or a council member ask the District Attorney to conduct a formal investigation into the use of the property at Liberty Station specifically the North Chapel which should remain in original condition and purpose.
